I have currently a pair of HD58X and wanted to upgrade for a long time now … i have a thx 789 coming and using a Aune x1s atm. I am looking for something more on the „fun“-side, I am looking for a something with more punch and bass if that makes sense, with not to bright highs. I listen to mostly edm, rap, chillstep, I don’t listen to classic for example. Would love to hear what people here suggest for someone like me, I can expand my budget if needed, and I am willing to buy used (if it’s not a planar magnetic) or new. Out of my researches the headphones that could be intersecting for me are:
-Thx-00 ebony
-TH900
-Zmf Eikon
-Zmf Aeolus
-E-mu Teak
Anything I missed ? ( Open headphones are fine aswell )
If you’re looking for a fun sound ZMF is a good place to look. I love the fun sound signature of my ZMF Ori’s and I listen to the same genres as you. I have not tried their dynamics but I might pick up a set in the future on top of my Ori’s because I wont be selling those anytime soon
Second ZMF as the next and maybe last upgrade. I love my 58X, and recently put an order on the ZMF Aeolus, can’t wait to get them. I own the THX-X00’s as well, where they are good for Bass, and they are Fun to listen to, the ZMF Aeolus is the True upgrade, THX-X00 is sidegrade.
