Are there any shops near you that allow you to listen to different setups? Even ideally at your own home?
Yeah that makes sense, thanks alot. Im just getting really into audio but not got too much money lol. Want to use my stero system more but I seem to use my headphones more just due to highs being nicer to hear.
Doubt at my home but there is a richersounds nearish to me where they have a demo room. But not sure what its like.
I would def go check it out, you can really listen to what’s out there. Just don’t let them sell you anything lol, you might end up with not a great deal
I see when I can check it out as its like 1h away from where I live, see what they got on demo. Dunno anywhere else that does it tho.
Just looking though those speakers are very nice haha they are quite a bit out of price range. In uk most of them are over £1000 and the cheaper ones are £700. Would u advise waiting and saving up for them? Or choose something cheaper
Have you checked used markets or looked for open boxes?
Found a monitor audio for a good price if you can get it
Same with the kef

Sorry about the higher tier recommendations, I was just combining the budget saved from not getting a new amp, so I was looking around the potentially 700 range. If you want I can go lower no problem
Something like the Dali Oberon 5 or 7 would be pretty nice for a bit less range

As M0N mentioned, I highly suggest listening for yourself at a shop. Call first, see what they have and set an appointment. It’s important to know what you like and what you don’t like – it will be way more valuable than any review or suggestion via text.
After you get an idea, used market is great. I can see floorstanders being heavily discounted as well because most of the time, someone is moving and wants to get rid of something… fast. I’ve seen stuff at 50% off if not more.
Oh awesome I normally avoid ebay but never heard of hifi-forsale so thanks alot. Not bothered by refurbished/preowned as long as in good condition haha.
Yeah those two mentioned would be pretty sweet imo, I think the monitor would be more up your alley, as I think the kef might be a bit too harsh/reveling for lofi (it would still be pretty nice though imo). I figure 500 is more inline with your budget, and you can more easily get an amp too now
Yeah I mean I was thinking 500 then save up again for an amp. Not got that much money atm but Ill save up and when time comes Ill ask u again but thanks for the reference great help.
Yeah make sure your finances are in order first lol. Also I would look around where you live and see what high end stores are around to go demo a bunch of stuff to figure out what sound you want to go for and perhaps find a deal
With higher end stuff used is your friend imo, you can find used like new or open box for really good prices. Typically with higher end gear it’s treated well and typically a safe buy
Doubt there be any High end stores near where I live cos its pretty rough haha. Live right up north, but what would some high end stores be? So I can be on the look out, and yeah I agree if i paid that money for stuff id look after it haha.
Unfortunately I’m not from the UK so I can’t really help you with this one lol, but you can look online for what might be near you, if you do some quick searches you can typically find a few stores.
Mint mate thanks alot!
But yeah im pretty sure the only place near me is richersounds which they do demo and they got an alrite range.

One near me they aparently have 2 Listening rooms which is neat.
They have monitor audio and fyne audio which are pretty nice, also have klipsch and dali too so you would be able to listen to some of the stuff I mentioned I think. Wharfedale is a big one, can’t believe I missed it lol. Acoustic Energy is nice but not stand out, Q acoustics is good but I think it might not have the punch you want. Mission is a very good brand, pretty nice stuff but more traditional. They also have the kefs too which is cool. Otherwise the stuff they carry like elac, focal, B&W, Elipson, etc is out of your range I think
Awesome so they pretty much got everything then? And yeah Ive had some wharfedales before like really old ones, quite sad they rotted away as they had some punch but bloody ell are they heavy. Solid wood it feels like haha, so fucking heavy. But thanks alot Ill nip in some time and take a listen to some of their stuff. Any brands to avoid?
That they carry? Not really. I can think of brands I dislike but I do encourage you to try as much as you can. All the stuff they have there seems to be solid but I have only looked at their floorstanders. I have not looked at their amps or anything else
Also make sure to ask them if they have any used or open box/demo units on sale, perhaps you could find a deal, and if not, there are other places you can buy stuff too
