Received !!! For now to say that it is worth all the wait, I am comparing them with the sennheiser HD600 and I am liking the verum much more.

There’s no ethical consumption under capitalism. That’s not a reason to support an openly racist person, it’s just ā€œwhat aboutā€-ism. It doesn’t matter if I murder this hobo because my shirt was made by child slave labor is not an excuse that’s going to fly anywhere.

I have HD 6XXs atm.

I was curious about the soundstage of the Verum, as compared to the 600/650/6XX.

I’m glad you like them though! Makes the shipping time wait more bearable.

And did he send an email notifying you of their being shipped out? Did he provide a tracking number? I’m in the waiting line with others, but haven’t haven’t received notifications yet. Ordered around February.

He did send an email and tracking number to me. I think Maximo86 had said in a previous post that an email was sent to him as well.

At the moment very happy, I think you will not be disappointed

Well, the partner has already answered you, yes, at least in my case he sent me an email with the tracking number, but right here there are colleagues who I think said I did not notify them and it came to them.

They have arrived! Seems like they are in pretty good condition. There is a small scratch on it, but doesn’t affect the sound. And its in a spot not normally seen. May have happened in shipping.

They sound VERY good. And paired with my Element II Dac/Amp it sounds FAR better than my laptop directly.

Absolutely worth the wait!

Any questions you guys want to ask, I’ll try to answer!

Can you compare it’s technical performance with some of the entry/mid level planars (if you heard them)? (e.g. HE400i/HE400SE/T50RP/Sundara)

Unfortunately, this was my first planar magnetic headphone. So I cannot compare them technically.

Looking at the reviews and comparisons of the he 400i against other headphones I have heard, the Verum One is much more similar in tonality to the 6XX/650. The Verum is darker for sure than the 400i, though the treble range does have more sparkle than my 6XX.

The Verums are also ā€œlighterā€ on the upper bass frequencies than the 6XX/650 much like the 400i, but I would imagine much stronger overall bass than the 400i. I have heard the 400i described as lighter on bass.

As a side note, doing some simple sine-wave tests I can clearly hear 16hz on the Verums, which I found rather impressive.

Still waiting on mine. Did you get any emails preceding your item’s arrival?

Yes I did, it contained the tracking number.

Trust me, they are worth the wait!!

I notice a considerable difference between my laptop headphone jack and my Element II.

I have no experience with your stack though. All I can say is I think they need a lot of current.

8-12ohms means you need a high current compared to most other headphones at a given volume (disregarding sensitivity). As long as it can push that, it should be fine.

If you can hear a decent difference between a normal headphone jack and the ifi, that probably gets you most of the way. IMHO.

Update: just got an email saying mine got shipped! Impressions incoming.

Just received them. They really are beautifully crafted and well built, especially for the price and compared to much of anything at the same price.

The sound is not resolving, particularly coming from the IEM world where you have multiple driver types combined in one chassis, to help push each part of the frequency range separately and clearly. For a planar magnetic headphone though, the Verum One MK2 is satisfying tonally. Bass hits well, mids are very much present, and treble isn’t shrill nor is the treble recessed compared to the rest of the range. In other words, a fun, balanced, hearty headphone that’s built with great care and precision.

The well suspended and evenly pressured head strap, combined with the cushy ear pads, also helps to make the headphones one of the most comfortable possible. There’s a small oddity with how the head strap can be adjusted to the point where they no longer suspend and actually make contact with the metal top piece, creating a hot spot of the head feeling like metal is pressing down on you, so big heads that need big adjustments will feel this.

My biggest downside, to my ears, is simply that the driver isn’t capable enough to produce everything with complete resolution. Frequency response tuning is great, pretty spot on. The voicing (how instruments and so on sound close to real life or not) is a bit….slightly off for my taste, but may be other’s preferred sound.

Overall, for the price, it competes extremely strong on build quality. For sound quality, it competes extremely strong in frequency response tuning, but falters a bit for resolution (as do many entry level planars, honestly). I would generally recommend these for their price, but they don’t compete to the highest end planars to my ear (like the HE6SE). But for what…$350? These are a great starting point.

And hey, aesthetically, they do look beautiful with the wood, the adjustments knobs and various metal components, the metal plate on the cups, and the plush perforated cushions.

Of course though, one has to come to terms with how they feel about buying from this headphone maker given the past online comments he has shared with people. But I like to give the benefit of the doubt for people and second chances for them to show the kindness in their heart  I know that sounds cheesy but I have a soft spot for doing such things and trying to find the better side of people - giving them an opportunity to grow those positive traits and learn from mistakes.

Have you tried the Sundara? If so how does the Verum compare?

I don’t recall specifics, but I don’t remember them very well as particularly enjoyable from where I was coming from with higher priced items.

It could be that the Verum compete or maybe outperform them, given my strong first impression of the Verum’s tuning choices and comfort.

I do vaguely recall the Sundara seeming not too resolving, but that may be similar to Verum.

Off the cuff without doing a fair side by side to refresh my memory, I might be inclined to say I prefer the verum for the price.
