Hooverphonics new 2024 Fake Is The New Dope album.
Excellent new album from JD McPherson. Combines rockabilly, roots rock, garage rock and surf rock into an intoxicating blend.
Because I am old school.
Because I am a huge Jazz fan
Becuase I am evaluating the Xenns Tea Pro
Itâs funny because for me thatâs too ânew Greendayâ for my preferences, I only listen to pre-Warning, maybe a couple tracks from Warning too I prefer the vibe of their older work.
I was just thinking about this yesterday, how for me the Offspring peaked at Americana and I donât really care for most of their releases since, even though theyâve put out several albums and have a new one coming out soon.
Itâs all personal nostalgia based Iâm sure, at least in my case. Americana was what I listened to on loop (along with 2-Pac and one Rammstein song) on the cassette player at school that was meant for the language learning cassettes, other kids in the class had ârippedâ it, weâd huddle listening to each side of the over ears headphone.
I listened to Americana last night and I still feel like itâs a masterpiece.
OG Geen Day x2
@rattlingblanketwoman @Ohmboy its interesting how many of us Gen Zâerâs like the original content from groups that are still active today, but have changed their style and type of music they started with. a perfect example I can share is Linkin ParkâŚmost of their latest stuff is terrible
onto something elseâŚright now Iâm listening to one of Ludovico Enaudiâs piano soloâs of Experience. Iâm linking to the one off Spotify as the the ones on YouTube are garbage quality. however, Iâm curious as to what you think of tracks that either add some form of distortion or keep distortion when notes / keys hit a weakness the recording equipment canât compensate for. listen to this one and youâll see what I meanâŚ
This new album from English jazz-grime-R&B-rap ensemble Ezra Collective is blowing me away:
I was thinking about it, and that accounts for some of it (Linkin Park works as an example for me too) but I only recently discovered Greta Van Fleet just a couple of weeks ago and in my eyes their first album is the best, the second is missing a little of what made the first so amazing, and by third and fourth I like it fine but much prefer their old work. So thatâs an example of preferring one part of their journey even when I havenât built personal attachment along the way.
Conversely some bands I can say I like all or most of their varied style - Arctic Monkeys have gone through some big changes but I like all of them (I didnât grow up listening to them).
The band âWhy?â Lost me at their album Mumps etc.
Tom Waits I like pretty much every era of.
To a slightly less degree Nick Cave.
I like the Beatles from cover ballads all the way through
I like Chairliftâs full evolution too
Some bands I just like one album of, like Tropical Fuck Stormâs âa laughing death in meatspaceâ or Grimesâ Miss Anthropocene.
Edit: Anyway, time to post what Iâm listening to - not a band I usually do but I liked this track when it came on recommended. Maybe an appropriate title?
I agree the old stuff was the money.
Greta Van Fleet is easily the most disappointing rock act of the last five years for me.
First EP was fantastic, especially the ubiquitous âHighway Song.â Sounded like the second coming of Led Zeppelin, which was so cool.
Problem is, GVF has done nothing on its subsequent releases other than prove it might be one of the best Zeppelin ripoffs on the planet. There has been zero growth, zero innovation, zero originality.
Plus, lead singer Josh Kiszka tries WAYYYYY too hard to mimic Robert Plant, and his screech is beyond annoying. Whatâs so irritating is that Kiszka has a lovely tone to his voice when heâs not trying to be Plant, but heâs screeching more and more on every record.
I never thought Iâd say this five years ago, but Greta Van Fleet sucks.
I need to listen to more Deadmau5
