What are your favourite OSTs?

Hands down my favourite is O Brother Where Art Thou.
Mississippi blues with a whole lot of personality.
My mum used to play it for me when I was a wee baby, so you can imagine
the infancy nostalgia trip I went on when I rediscovered the film in my teenage hood.

Here’s my greatest takeaway from it, which started my interest in the blues genre:

this one still gives me chills:

Ugh I want to link like four other songs from the soundtrack.
I can only suggest you watch the film, because it fits so well
and it’s over half of the reason why it’s my favourite film.

It’s probably becoming a little bit much for anyone to mention but I love me some Star Wars. I love the music that’s come from all the eras, but here’s my particular favorites-

It’s really either this or The Immolation Scene, but this was implemented so well in Jedi Fallen Order’s finale that I honestly prefer this now.

This one in conjunction to the scene corresponding with this song gave me chills, love the way it starts, the slow buildup, and that outstanding, dramatic finish

Love how this track conveys the sense of adventure here with the underlying tune, yet also giving a sense of mystery, if not, dread of what’s to come, it’s great-

I’d also like to mention that the Solo soundtrack is such a fun listen, and certainly needs more recognition, but then again I’m a sucker for SW so I’m far too biased here rofl

I would say anything by Basil Poledoudoris, but, if I must choose one, I cannot because I have 2 favourites (I listen to them mixed together all the time). I cannot say which one is better, the soundtrack for Conan The Barbarian or the one for Conan the Destroyer:

Extended Conan the Barbarian soundtrack on youtube:

Spotify album (with a few songs from other soundtracks):

Conan the Destroyer:

If I were to choose only one song, then Column of Sadness/Wheel of Pain from Conan the Barbarian would be it:

As mentioned, I don’t really listen to full OSTs, but there are some where they chose some fantastic songs, that I subsequently had to get in my collection after hearing them in the movie. One of those is the Kill Bill OST, particularly what they picked for the Vol. 1 movie:

  • after the intro scene: Nancy Sinatra - Bang Bang
  • after meeting Hattori Hanzo: James Last & Gheorghe Zamfir - Einsamer Hirte / The Lonely Shepherd
  • after the O-Ren Ishii fight: Meiko Kaji - Shura no Hana (Flower of Carnage)

Also kept this one from Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon: Coco Lee - A Love Before Time

And this one from Final Fantasy - Spirits Within: Lara Fabian - The Dream Within

imo Gran Turismo 4 still is hands down the racing game with the best OST. I’m not a fan of the rock tracks, but the jazzy menu music is top notch. I have a CD of the OST, and unfortunately the mastering is not very good.

I tried watching this the other day and without having the music with it, it just wasn’t good to me.

But this score/ soundtrack is incredible. ABSOLUTELY INCREDIBLE!!!

747 , Rainy Night in Tallin and Trucks In Place are just 3 songs that really made me enjoy my new BL-03.

Anyone that hasn’t listened to this, should do so

I’m stunned that no one has mentioned these OST yet:

Oblivion by M83

Arrival by Johann Johannsson (And one great song by Max Richter)

Ill throw in a few of my favorite.

This one fills me with a bunch of nostalgia. I can’t seem to find any traces of these song outside of this album so I think they were made for this game specifically.

One of my favorite game albums. Has some beautiful soundscapes. My favorite song being in the second one. I have it as my permanent ringtone.

Someone posted the Sim City 4 album. That one is solid but my heart belongs to the OG Sim City 3000.

I don’t think I have found a soundtrack that gets me as hype as this one here.

These are a Few will post more later.

Well I can’t really listen to “On the Nature of Daylight” too much because I might run out of goosebumps, and as for Johannsson (R.I.P.) I have him in the ol’ collection but what stuck with me more was his non-movie album “Orphee” - some of those tracks have amazing music videos too.

“On the Nature of Daylight” too much because I might run out of goosebumps, I know right. Idk what the mad man did, but that is a great piece.

Whoa I didn’t know this “Written in 2003, The BlueNotebooks was originally composed in protest to the 2003 invasion of Iraq”

Also what the hell is wrong with you people, this post has been here since 2019 and no one’s posted about the Xenoblade Chronicles 2 soundtrack???

And the DLC is arguably just as good if not better:
