What are your other hobbies?

My other hobbies include auto detailing, collecting old cars - specifically Buick Riviera’s, collecting Petroliana (which is memorabilia associated with gas stations and the oil industry), and enjoying all things Wisconsin such as Beer, Brats, Cheese, Packers, Badgers, etc.

I combine my love for music - especially the Blues - with my passion for old cars by hosting a summer party affectionately known as “Buicks Blues & BBQ” which is held annually on the last Saturday in July.

If you find yourself in southern Wisconsin that time of year and want to attend send me a PM .

For something like this I don’t use dynotopo and only the grab tool and smooth thingy (holding shift, not the actual tool). Actually you shouldn’t use any sculpting tools for this but I’m lazy. Doing it as a separate object might indeed be easier, but do think about how you want to pastt it back one once it’s done, if you go to exotic you might not be able to easily connect it to the rest of the pot.

How many subdivisions did you use? All of them? Lol. It looks really good. As to the sculpt tools that is what you are supposed to do.

If it makes you feel better, I did not know either. I typically try to stay “out-of-the-box” as much as possible. That way if I have to re-install or I move to another computer I do not have to remember each add-on, setting, and so on.

Car audio sound quality competitions and my son and I collect sports cards.

Hmm one or two, nothing too crazy :p.

Kinda agree with this, but there are a few that are really nice. And the best thing is they are already there, you just need to activate them. So far I only use F2 and the node wrangler. I often found myself with 3 vertices and no way to create a proper face easily, especially when I’m trying to reduce faces and stuff like that (or when I f’d up big time :p), f2 is a life saver.

Just add on a connector section, reduce the end to match the number of vertices of where you want to connect it, then create new faces to join the vertices and bevel to smooth it out or use rerouted edge loops.

lol!

“F” keyboard shortcut will create faces with 3+ vertices. Not sure if that is a good way to do things or not but it has worked thus far. I will look into F2 as it does look interesting. No arguments about node wranger. I just forget about it until I start messing with nodes and the shortcuts do not work. facepalm

@Voifi - Good call. Routed edge loops are clean and easy way to make sharp edges plus look nice and clean.

Agoraphobia and saving money on gasoline. Otherwise, it’s still the same work + gaming + headphones routine for me right now.

I build, collect, restore and modify computer keyboards. I would collect the whole vintage computers, but I do not have the space:

This was part of my collection at one point (some of them are gone, others used for parts):

CM Storm Novatouch with aftermarket keycaps

Dolch PAC keyboards (ISO and ANSI formats)

new pcb and modifying switches for a Dolch PAC keyboard

finished

This is a custom I build from parts gathered and sourced for about 1.5 years. Switches from a West German made Nixdorf keyboard, PCB and aluminium case and stainless steel switch plate made in South Korea, other bits and pieces made in China, keycaps made in Germany.

some of the parts:

adding LEDs inside each key switch and underside RGB LEDs

my ugly mug building/soldering it

artsy-fartsy photo of the switches, in-switch LEDs turned on, all set in the stainless steel plate, after soldering to the pcb (which is on the underside of the plate)

finished

and an artsy-fartsy picture with my daily drivers (Fiio BTR5 and a modified Leopold FC660C keyboard):

Edit:

I also do a lot of cycling and mountain climbing (I do not think you want to see any more images though)

This thread reminded me about my watches, I don’t wear them to bed and since I have not been getting out of my pajamas much lately I forgot all about them, I polished one up I haven’t worn in over a year and put it on today along w/ a pair of pants, just because
Anyway, this is a bronze Anonimo Dino Zei Nautilo, #005 of 250. I maintain a small collection of brass and bronze watches, I like how they age. The strap is a custom Horween leather made by Greg Stevens Design (GSD) out of Utah, Greg has made me several straps for multiple watches all of which are beautiful and have a certain look and style I really enjoy, the strap has one of Greg’s custom buckles on it and has maintained it’s beauty for many years now.

Mountain climbing. I started small with hills. Then i started doing small mountains. Then bigger mountains. Now i’m up to full size mountains. I hope to do K2 sometimes this summer. This really helps with my glutes.

Takes a lot of finger strength and nerves of steel. Especially when you decide to forgo any equipment as i often do. Mountain climbing is the best training for American Ninja Warrior which i am gonna try out for this fall

It all reminds me of something my scuba diving teacher told me. “Belief, let music burn, oppoty, Nevergiveup.” I still dont know what oppoty means.

Those short run, micro brand watches can be really special.

You already got a will written for all your audio gear should something happen w/o equipment scaling a full mountain? Asking for a friend :joy:

I have this weird desire to seek out items that are different or have some fascinating aspect about them that makes them special to me. I will sometimes go with the flow and snatch up things that are popular but my true desires tend to push me towards the underdogs or less popular items many times for a unique feature or something along those lines. It’s nice to be different, sometimes you win, sometimes you lose but it does make for good times researching and hunting things down. Come to think about it, many times I guess I do what i do BECAUSE of the hunt…

Well since i dont really climb mountains i dont need to worry about it. But if i die from all the burgers i consume and my laid-back lifestyle its all going to my nephew. who views my expenditures in the audio arena as a shame. Its my last little joke.
