What did you buy today? (Part 1)

Kinda doesn’t really matter. It’s great compliment to my LCD X right now and I wanted something to reach for when I’m either not in the mood but of a different signature and with a similar or better quality. I’m not going to sell off my other headphones, but I know that it’s going be LCD X or Eikon here on out pretty near exclusively for a while. Especially because the Blon B20 sounds thin and annoying with the RNHP (that comment will be coming soon on where I found something the THX amps have over the RNHP).

I think you’ll be happy in any case. The Eikon to me is the best value in the ZMF line. Auteur and Verite are technically better but I like the Eikon despite that off of tubes. Without a tube amp, I don’t love it as much, but its still more than great. I can’t imagine a scenario anyone would dislike it, but I look forward to hearing your impressions regardles

I’m already looking at tube amps, leaning towards hybrids. Lyr 3 or Mjolnir 2.

I’m a big Eikon fan as well, it did take me about 30 minutes to get used to the sound, or maybe just initial burn in, when I first heard them. But I’d recommend it without reservation.
I do think the Verite has obvious roots with the Eikon, and it’s an obvious step up to me, but They are basically twice the price.

For the Eikon I’d look at pure tubes over hybrids, but they sound good on better SS as well.

Was fawning over the HP-3’s, so naturally I purchased the KLH Ultimate One’s used on eBay. They’re returnable if they don’'t work out. Has anyone tried these?

Cue the “those are just Sivga’s” posts.

You know im not sure its just a Sivga. The Master Switch actually has these on their list. and the high end list as well. heres their brief review:

You don’t have to spend thousands of dollars to get a great pair of high-end headphones. Instead, you could spend a mere $300 on a pair of KLH Ultimate Ones. KLH are traditionally a speaker company, and we were as surprised as anybody to see them release a pair of headphones. Fortunately, they know what they are doing. Every aspect from their beautiful design, with a lovely wooden finish that recalls the ZMF Aeolus, to their solid sound quality, the KLH Ultimate Ones are top notch. They feel luxurious and premium, as if they should cost far more than they do. We even prefer them to more expensive headphones, like the SendyAudio Aiva ($599).

One aspect to mention about the Ultimate Ones is that they offer a warm, dark sound, meaning that the bass dominates above all else. We believe it sounds great - we like a bit of bass - but the audio might not be for everyone. This particular sound signature may turn off those looking for a more balanced or neutral presentation. If that’s you, we recommend the Sennheiser HD600s, which are only slightly more expensive.

I was a bit skeptical about the KLH at $300, but I have seen some positive reviews (including The Master Switch review), so at the very least it’s worth a try!

I know I’ve spent more money and exposed myself to greater disappointment. Ether CX’s are a prime example.

These tubes are everywhere.
I’m currently trying to refurbish and mod on of my guitar amplifiers.

After ages of not playing Video Games I guess Corona made me start again lol. Don’t really know what to expect.
And Year I bought some audiophile USB crap. Hopefully this will solve some instability problems with my MOTU UltraLite AVB Interface. This professional gear is somehow crazy sensitive to cheap USB Cables. I’m going to try it with my DAC too out of curiosity. Maybe it actually will help with jitter of some sort.

These guys have a good selection of ‘Valves’ as we say for all types of amps :+1:

Interesting article about Meze Neo’s in comparison to the Classic’s. I had always wondered about that.

It’s come down to HP-3’s or Eikon’s for me. Can’t go wrong with either.

The last item I ordered, yet the first to arrive. Clamp is a little heavy, but so far no complaints

I have gone back and forth all day… should I wait for my Beyer T5P and my Sendy Aiva to get sold (I have already sold my Xduoo Ta-10) before I pull the trigger, or should I do it now :grimacing:

I did it now and got an Eikon in Blackwood. My Aeolus is also in Blackwood, but I just love the color of that wood.
