Pretty different, the crack + speedball is a fair bit more colored and going for a real fun signature, but it’s more picky about what sounds good on it (being otl)
Nice, curious to hear what you think about them
Well, someone posted the Andover Audio PM-50s. Since Andover Audio is apparently a “hometown hero”, I took the dive on them.
Review (pretty much singular lol)
Figured I might as well go lateral instead of straight up with the Anandas (cancelled the amazon order on them :’(, but saved $300 bucks so hey now I can buy the Erish when it pops ). Very much so looking forward to the pm-50s
@gallappago I wouldn’t have seen these if not for the deals thread post. Thank you
Pretty good. Controlled, deep low end. Lot’s of detail, and slightly bright. The pads are too small for my ears, so I actually changed them out last night for the ZMF Ori’s with the Dekoni rings and they’re so much more comfortable. It didn’t affect the sound very much either.
I’m going to try and wait till Monday to do the mod, but I’m pretty excited by what I’ve been hearing so I may end up doing it this weekend.
Haha! Soon, I promise.
I wonder how they compare to the Ebony
Me too. I’m confident the Asgard will be great. The descriptions of the Edition XX on this forum and elsewhere made them sound like a decent starting point for me in the next tier up. Plus with selling old gear and cashing in Amazon points they’re basically an <$200 risk. I just couldn’t pass on that…
From what I’ve been told, the 610’s have a more neutral tuning while the Ebony’s are warmer. I think the Ebony’s are the preferred tuning because of their warm, fun sound.
plan on using the hd600’s firstly
the guys awesome that is selling it to. been emailing with him. he will ship monday. hes going to the store today to get bubble wrap ect to make sure nothing gets jarred loose hopefully in transit.
I suppose the detail retrieval is the same on the TH610 as the Ebonies?
I haven’t heard the Ebony, but I imagine it would be on par. The 610’s are very detailed.
Actually the Amazon page has the same diagram on it for (I think) all of the Sivga cans. So I think it’s a Sivga thing and not the seller.
Welcome to the Starfield club!
For basic portability, so far I’ve tried them out of my Cayin N3 DAP and a Galaxy tablet, and they are very good. I don’t have any portable DACs or amps, but I did plug the Starfields in to my SMSL stack (digital out from a FiiO DAP -> SU-8 DAC -> SH-8 amp), and I want to say … yes? It probably scaled well? I’ll have to listen more, and it’s probably placebo effect (the belief that bigger, more expensive gear = better sound), but I do think there’s a noticeable improvement.
How do you spot a Beyer headphone? Look for a 20 ft cable with crazy janks in it.
The DT 880 32 Ω were my first “serious” headphones, more than 3 years ago. It’s been quite a journey since. I heard that the 600 Ω were the most refined of the 880 lineup, so I took a chance and pulled the trigger a couple weeks ago and the brand new 600s arrived Wednesday. They might need some break-in time, but so far the biggest difference has been with the noise floor of my Cavalli tube hybrid amp. Noticeable hiss with the 32s, none whatsoever with the 600s. Nice. I tried them on my SMSL SH-8 amp, and as I suspected, it can drive them only with difficulty - I’m not getting the headroom I want. Next test will be on the Audio-gd R-28. Depending on how that goes, they might be “Cavalli only” cans. The last step will be the Geshelli Archel 2 Pro - on high gain it should do just fine. After break-in, I’m hoping for deeper layering and a stronger overall dynamic profile compared to the 32 Ω set.
That’s awesome.
Impulsively bought blon 03, kz zs10 pro and shuoer tape. Not sure what to expect but I guess we will see what happens
You’re going to love it… I prefer an aftermarket cable to stock but it’s a very versatile HP.
