My buddy Steve just stopped by and dropped off the 2 Genalex Gold Lion N709/EL84 tubes and Hidizs S3 that he traded to me (for 2 of my Tung Sol 6SN7-GTB).
My Lake People G111 arrives today between 12:30 and 4:30 PM according to UPS. I’ll make sure to include pictures once it arrives.
When Z said it could power his T60rps at near maximum to his liking I got worried. But now I am worried about his hearing as at about 50% high gain they power my T60rp Argons just fine.
Will say the touch interface is ify but that is more due to the size of the screen then anything. But the menu gestures are top notch, finger prints are something of a nightmare tho, and I’m not even Italian. I’ll have to sort that out with a case and screen protector at some point.
Just Installed my new bookshelf stereo. Picked up some B&W 686 speakers cheap online. They work good with my vintage Sony TA-F5. I have an Akai tape deck for now, planning on upgrading it at some point.
got a free monolith USB dac (which i am surprised they didn’t do a 2001 a space odyssey joke or something on it)… i wrote a review but i dunno where to post it
My Lake People G111 arrived about an hour ago. Initial impressions…this sounds neutral…very neutral. It may be the tiniest shade warm if it is not neutral. It gives a speaker like pressure and attack IMO. Best my HD650 have sounded on a solid state amp. The volume knob is stepped and it is addictive.
Of course, these are only initial impressions, and more listening time is needed. But if things progress well from my initial listen…I may have to move the RNHP down to the office setup and the G111 up to my main rig.
Edit: Still listening, but 1 thing that is very apparent…the mids on this amp are so rich and detailed. Some of the bass guitar I just listened to on “Never Gonna Stop” by Rob Zombie was like hearing the song for the 1st time…the proper way. If bass guitar is a highlight of things the G111 excels at, this is a home run of a purchase.
