I was thinking of just going with the default tubes on the DV im getting. not sure i want to roll tubes at all
Enjoy it with those stock tubes as long as you can, hopefully something sounds good with it. There are still plenty of excellent common tubes that sound real good with the DV. I spent a bit too much and bought a few different ones to try but so far i have been lucky and enjoy them all. If you have issues with the amp, look at the threads on here, we have captured most of the info you will need to take care of hum and maybe to a purchase of 2 or 3 tubes
this just arrived the other day.
the default new pads sounded a bit hallow to me, but the OG small pads sound pretty good. Not the most comfortable sadly but I am going to look into modding them at some point.
Always enjoy seeing your setup & just your room in general. Gives me a real cozy and homey feeling.
It’s a good idea to learn Cartridge alignment with a cheaper one. Print out the protractor and measure it with a quality straightedge. It’s a good Idea to laminate it because paper it’s the best for your stylus.
The G1006 has a great price/performance ratio… the Goldring MCs are very nice too.
I experienced too much bad tracking with Grados in the Past…
I heard a MP200 and it was very natural and clean. They are good but not an amazing bargain and I like my Hana MC a lot more than the MP200. Hana is just amazing… I chill them lol.
Ortofon MCs aren’t my thing but the older OM series is pretty great. You can upgrade the stylus from the 10 to the 30 and get great results. I actually made awesome sounds happening using the OM 40 stylus with a Concorde. The 2M Blue is boring but very good too.
I never really liked Denon but they are quality stuff. Benz, Clearaudio and Sumiko make great sound too.
It sounds stupid but my rule of thumb is to spend the same amount on the Preamp as on the Cartridge.
If you want to improve the resolution of your E3 you can lift the tonearm by about 3mm with a rega space Kit. But I would only worry about the with a sharper Stylus in the 200$ range. The Rega Cartridges are 3mm short of most standard Cartridges. You would also need a Exzenter Tonearmweight to make it not hit the lid or put 3m bump protectors on your Lid to raise it.
Rel T/i9 came in. I really wanted to find out what all the fuss is about these subs. It’s good, very good, it makes me smile.
I really like the fact that corner loading is the preferred means of set-up for these as recomended by REL. Honestly makes my life easy in my office. It’s tight and plays deep, perfect compliment for my bookshelves.
Nice, that’s a pretty sweet sub
Oh hell ya!
Well, curious to see if it meets your expectations lol
Is this new? I like how the boxes all look like they’ve been sitting in storage for the past 20 years. Lol!
Here’s a box from a used set.
Yeah packaging isn’t their strong suit, but at least sound is lol
Yeah, box almost looks faded.lol
A/B testing against THX 888 SP200…
Any brief first impressions on it so far (although going from thx to the rnhp might take some time to fully realize the differences)?
need a little more time, but I think the RNHP is more refined
I picked up one of these out of interest, or at least my order was accepted, supposed to be competitive with the ZDT Jr, but with a somewhat dryer signature.
Who knows when he’ll actually build it or how long it’ll take to ship from Russia, since he hasn’t actually charged me for it yet.
Sarda gang lol, I got mine in today and I just love them, exactly what I was looking for as an upgrade to the CE-5
damn dude thats a pricey boy right there but thise specs are pretty killer
