What did you buy today? (Part 1)

I’m sure on some incredibly specific set of testing equipment you MIGHT find some kinda difference, but nothing the human ear should be able to register.

I think you misunderstood. I’m asking about the physical noise caused by the fabric on the cable rubbing against each other or on my shirt. It’s a rather big problem for the TR-X00 line since the cups act like a resonance chamber (as I imagine they should) and make the brushing sound of the cables rather loud. I don’t think any quality made cable will sound different from any other (unless there is a LARGE difference in resistances).

The problem is there are people who will mean it in that sense. I don’t notice much of a problem, but it’s a characteristic of fabric covered cables. Only way to completely avoid it is to have no fabric sleeving.

Well I didn’t exactly buy most of it so not sure if it counts, but for my birthday this weekend I got a complete set of stuff from everyone. It’s almost exclusively FiiO: FA1, E10K, RC-BT and a carrying case to take it to and from work everyday. Also got some Comply foam tips and I ordered a Hidizs S1 phone DAC/dongle thingy for myself.

Just bought these:

Anyone know whats going on with the Superlux company? Are they still producing headphones? I havent seen anything new from them in a while and the prices seem to be dropping on Amazon and they got a lot of out of stock.

How do you like it after some burning in?
AT says it has 10 x 10-6 cm/dyne but in my experience they work well with Rega.
You could get more details and better tracking out of it adding like 1 oder 2g to the headshell.
But I guess the next upgrade needs to be a good phono preampstage.
Maybe get some spacers and one of these acrylic VTA and Azimuth Alignment Rulers.

It sounds fantastic, honestly. I’ve compared some albums to my digital copies and with the cartridge it sounds very ‘accurate’ and well extended in both ends. Somehow still very resolving, but without the super hard ‘edginess’ of the DAC/Digital source. It really hits the right ‘spot’. Compared to the Carbon, it’s definitely quite a bit more resolving from memory and the Carbon felt rolled off in the highs, which wasn’t necessarily bad (gave it a more cliche “analog” sound), but I think I prefer how this AT cart is sounding.

I’m pretty satisfied and not very ‘hungry’ for upgrades at the moment, but the next thing I do get will likely be that phono stage you pointed me to, the Vangard 2. I’ll like keep an eye out for a good deal and that’ll open up MC type cartridges as well.

Likewise. Enjoying my new setups for a while now. Time to save up for the next things:)

That’s a fun stage too tbh :man_shrugging: I’m close to being settled for awhile myself… I have 3 items on the way and I think I’ll need 2 more to be content for awhile :+1:

Sorry, I have never noticed such a thing with my gear. Maybe my gear is not that sensitive to this kind of interference.
