Am I better off just staying with the Elex with my current stack? As in, it wouldn’t be THAT much of a noticeable change.
I’m looking for a good W shaped headphone over 700$
If you aren’t willing to upgrade your electronics, imo yes. The clear is only worth if you plan to invest in better amps and dacs imo
Got it. I’ll stay with my setup for now then. I just hate that feeling in the back of my mind that I’m “missing out” on better sound but I can’t justify upgrading for now lol
okay… .so the Clear and Elex have pretty much the same exact Sound Signature. The RAW frequency response is pretty much the same.
The differences comes from the separation and clarity of the Clears. They earn the name “clear” from having better delineation between sounds. But this is only really appreciable on higher-end amplifiers, which also have good speed/delineation.
The result of getting that better clarity/separation is the perception of a more neutral sound signature. That comes from tighter/cleaner sounding bass, and more ‘airy’ high-end. when you combine those differences, it makes it seem more neutral. The actual tonality is the same.
The presentation is what gives the elex it’s w shaped sound imo compared to the clears (disregarding other technicalities)
hmm, ok i guess i’ll just have to go listen to it
sorry, im afraid of the dark
dont hurt me please
Some company should make a bright ass headphone and call it “The Nightlight”, lol. Grado and Beyer can fight it out for the naming rights.
Get behind me Soren, Cookies wont give me clarity
Ah, but all that is gold does not glitter, and there is a light that shall spring from the shadows. You must go into the darkness to discover it.
Sure it does. you just gotta rub it with some cleaner for it to shine UNLIKE THE NIGHTHAWKS
You have to have good sight to see things and recognize their beauty in the dark though
TTFN.
Take your entire chain into consideration before you spend the funds. Source, source material, DAC, amp then headphones. You will get that extra percentage of detail and depth but pretty much only if the entire chain is of enough quality to bring it out.
For example if you are using YouTube or cassettes or a cheap old CD player with scratched up CD being fed to a warm DAC to a warm amp don’t expect miracles.
The scratches on the CD further elevate the warmth and texture of the dynamics.
