it is currently in route to @Bmn1251 so perhaps he can share his thoughts
These look Awesome. Enjoy.
Only the headphones are new. The Hifman HE400se, which are my first magnetic planar set.
I got them on Amazon, and they did ship with that black cable, which is apparently the one from the the drop 4xx model.
Whatās that volume buttonā¦ Looks s*xy af
It really is, thanks it was an impulse purchase when I first got a compact keyboard.
Apparently the Amazon link wonāt embed correctly, but it is about $29, metal frame, USB-C, and has a nice blue glow while you are using it, and it has a clicky feel. I was torn on this, but it works, each click it two points of volume on the 100 point scale. Pushing down on it is mute too.
Wonder and awe!!
Here is the 2.5 to 4.4 adapter I mentioned
Well its here and its day 2.
Sounds good even coldā¦warms up overnight and it gets better. Compared with the iFi DSD Pro they sound very similarā¦the implementation are vastly different for sure. The digital filters are different and with the Soekris 2541 you get a cross-feed function which may or may not work for you. Some older recordings can benefit with this. YMMV
The Soekris has a built in op amp Class A headphone amp, the iFi Pro DSD has a āline-stageā similar etc.
The amp in the Soekris to me is just a tad warmer with my headphones. The cost differential in the two us largeā¦IMO the 2541 holds it weight against the iFI PRO DSD which I like as well ALOT. Just different features to play withā¦if this is something your wantingā¦
But for a basic GOOD dac the Soekris 2541 is the latest from Soren and its a real winnerā¦I waited for a few months to get oneā¦been out of stock at Modhouse Audio and they just got a new batch in with the latest firmware and filters.
I will say with real resolving headphones I do hear subtle differences more easily with the 2541 over the iFIā¦Using Final Audio D8000 Pros and ADX 5000ās.
The Soekris 2541 makes a really good DAC/AMP AIO and being able to drive the 420 ohm ADX 5000s it has good power as wellā¦
Its a real winner!
Sweet sweet, glad you are enjoying it, really does hold up quite well for the price
Being able to set the level out via the digital volume control for the LINE out helps with matching to amps with varying gain settingsā¦another nice āhiddenā featureā¦also the clipping light is very accurate and sensitive another nice feature not seen in many other devices.
Its been compared with higher priced dacs and does very wellā¦
Sound impressions: if the Shanling UP5 is clean like a JDS Labs EL II, then the iFi Go Blu is warm like a Schiit Asgard 3.
The Go Blu has a better bluetooth connectivity compared to the UP5. The best I can describe it is that the UP5 is quite delicate when skipping through Youtube videos. Like, if I play a video, there will be no audio, but if I close that video & play it again, the audio works fine. Idk the cause, but it could be cause I use an iPhone 8 Plus: either a bluetooth codec limitation or the age of the phone.
They both have a volume knob, but the Go Blu is more tactile? Visceral? However, the UP5 has greater volume control as the unit has independent volume controls in the unit on top if Hi/Low Gain.
They both have a slight hiss, but Iām certain thatās coming from my phone; I can hear a hiss even when I use the Apple dongle dac.
Last but not least, they both have a sexy female European voice that sounds similar to this:
sweet! After a bit more time Iād love to hear your feedback in the go blu thread. Iām interested in the product but skeptical of the blue tooth solutions vs. hip dac 2 option.
Just received some Beyerdynamic T1.2s in the mail today! Iāve heard a lot of good things about these headphones, Iām excited.
Bought from @Rick_Jones here on HFG, everything is in wonderful condition, highly recommend buying from Rick, maybe go grab those Emu Teaks or something, lol.
Look forward to hearing your impressions about them
