Mostly as an experiment the KZ ZEX, but color me surprised, they are pretty darn good.
I was not expecting a set that sounded legit for $25. They have good bass, and aren’t shouty or sibilant, which is new for KZ. They don’t have the greatest treble response, but for that price, I can live with that.
Broke down and bought a pair of the AKG K361. Between the recent vids about the bluetooth version, and my love for cheap, good headphones, I couldn’t take it anymore. Thankfully I can say I really like them. Really good sound if a little bass heavy. And very comfy.
If you haven’t tried yet, get a pair of 2x Sylvania JHS 6AK5.
The ones made from the early 50’s to early 60’s sing beautifully in the MT-602.
After that time period, the quality went to crap.
Of course set expectations, its still a budget amp. But very impressive with these tubes.
So far none of the tubes made any worth changing for me. I may write a little about it in the MT602 topic, but for now it seems I’ll be sticking with solid state.
The KZ AZ09, which transforms a pair of IEMs into wireless. The upside is it is cheap, $24, the downside, the best codec is AAC ( not even APTX ). I had this for a while and just didn’t open the box. The opening even has foam to protect the IEMs.
The KZ ZEX I posted a few days back, and they are a nice budget set with some bass, and not typical KZ-shouty, so a nice all day no fatigue set.
Fair enough. The tubieness isn’t for everyone. At least you gave it a fair shot. I wasn’t sure if I was gonna like it either when I purchased the TA-20. As it turns out I love it! Of course, the TA-20 is a hybrid, not a full blown tube amp.
