It’s not super tuby but definitely smooths things out compared to SS, it’s very detailed as well which I wasn’t expecting from the “cheap” amp and it plays lower impedance headphones pretty well. Can definitely recommend it to anyone wanting to step up from a Darkvoice or TA26.
Another set of candies arrived…no clue abouth what are those cables as I did not order them though. Most likely internal shell connections. If not for the fire underneath my ass at work I would be doing some first prototypes today. Maybe next month
I finally got a set of stands for the speakers on my desktop system. They arrived today.
Very cool, these are! You can set them to be either short or tall as well as set tilt adjust. Great product.
When it all comes in at the same time!
Please forgive the Oor on top of the Unity.
I didn’t realize my XLR cables weren’t going to be long enough until I went to plug them in.
Found a heck of a deal on a Holo spring 2 wildism edition. Couldn’t pass it up so it lives under 2 heaters now lol.
Old iPod shuffle gen 4, I love well built old music players. It does play lossless too, with nostalgia as an added bonus.
Have the FT3 on the way too. Hopefully You can report they sound great even on something like the btr7.
didn’t notice any deficiencies vs a A90D and only ran the BTR7 at 23 on low gain which was pretty loud (both bal 4.4)
Can You already do some Soundstage comparison to other gear you have around?
Nice! One of my setups is very similar with the Modi Multibit 2 and a Lyr. How is the desktop setup as a whole treating you and, more specifically, how are you liking the MMB2 as a DAC?
Earlier today (actually yesterday because it’s 3:24AM here) I ordered the new Schiit Syn. I don’t really have a need for it, but after reading up on it and reading Jason’s chapter on it over on Head-Fi my curiosity demanded the opportunity to check it out and see what it’s got goin’ on.
It is so smooth. I had problems with setup, getting a lot of static and hum during and in between songs. After an hour of detaching and reattaching cables, I found it was electronic interference from charging my laptop. So, now I know I i have to unplug the laptop before listening. Now it just sounds amazing. I’m reexperiencing all my headphones now. I’m finally able to adequately power the T50RP Argons I bought from @rattlingblanketwoman !
Right after I hooked this up, I found a good deal on a used Bifrost 2/64…so, like any good audiophile would, I grabbed it. So, I’ll get to A/B the Modi to the Bifrost. One will go with a Liquid Platinum amp for a second setup.
I forgot to take a photo before I closed up, but I upgraded the memory on two laptops at my place. Going from 8GB to 32GB is noticeable.
Ordered two pairs of these SMC to female 3.5mm adapters I saw on AliExpress. I own several pairs of Hifiman headphones with SMC connectors that I’d love to be able to turn into more standard terminations for the sake of longevity and making cable buying and swapping easier. I ordered two pairs to try for now, one with SPC cable and one with OCC, so I can see if they work out in reality the way I imagine they will in my head. If the adapters are as useful as they seem and are comfortable/not annoying, then I’ll probably order a few more pairs so I can just put them on all my SMC terminated Hifimen. If they work out, this will be a cool find indeed!
good luck!
I was actually looking into making somthing similar myself and when I was looking for the SMC connectors to buy I ran across these. My time is at a premium these days so I figured why not just buy them premade and save the time if I can. I still ordered the supplies I need to make my own if these disappoint, but they seem pretty perfect.
or at least in a holding pattern… Congrats on a Beautiful set.
