Review to follow with time but the immediate reaction is glowing. They sound huge and extremely detailed without being offensive, and the bass quality is outstanding (quantity is north of neutral but not basshead level). Also, they’re less Jet “Black” and more Jet “Gunmetal” IMO, but pictures do not do them justice. Sidenote: They are offered with either no cable or one of two “stock” options, and the cable is literally just loose and separate, so if you like cable hunting on AliEx and the like feel free to save $300!
They do REALLY seal well for me once I have break them in my ears. Because at first when they are entirely new like out from the case or box, they are too grippy for me, meaning I cannot insert them in my ears yet on certain IEMs. But once I have gotten used to it, man it’s such an excellent set of tips. I bought the Orange and Black ones, and I think I prefer the orange more when it comes to the sounds that I get from it.
Are the black the same material as the orange? I reacted to the orange. Felt like there was hot sauce on them…I washed them and it made no change. Nice fit and sound though but couldn’t tolerate the irritation
I have been meaning to reacquire these for the collection after losing them years ago. These are all hybrid CDs, which is cool because 2 of my transports can play SACD, so pretty cool.
Was never that happy with quite how much desk space my CXN V2 took up and I didn’t “really” use it’s standalone streaming functionality as I use roon/tidal on my iMac sooooooooI bought an Eversolo Z8 Dac and it’s now settled in to system/desktop whilst my CXN V2 is off (sold) to a new owner
Audio quality of the Z8 is so… so much better than CXN, clearer high’s, lower lows, detailed separation and so on………………nah not really…….… , I can’t tell any audible difference whatsoever but it must be betterer as it’s smaller and conveniently sits on my desk shelf - so that’s a big win for more desk space.
Fantastic looking workspace. Well done. Great to see the two absorbers for early reflection and diffuser to help broaden the stage/clean it up in the middle…are the shadows ceiling mounted cloud absorbers?
One suggestion, for audio listening only, you might consider a shallow absorbent layer to place on the table in front of each speaker. You’re getting quite the bounce just after the original signal confusing the stage probably more than a little. Just a towel folded up would do the trick as a test before bothering to find something more aesthetically appealing.
The entire room is acoustically treated and set up/measured with Umik mic using rew then peq applied through roon for the troublesome bass room modes caused by my two Dynaudio 18S dual opposed subwoofers.
Desk is fine really, has very little effect on overall sound in the room
Cool setup, but do you not have a monitor light bar? IMO thats a MUCH bigger help than LEDs on the back on the monitor (I got both).
I own this:
You can go for the cheaper ones without the backlight since you already got that via LEDS. (I got LEDs and the backlight via monitor bar but it barely does anything in comparison to the LEDs.)
It’s not led’s on the back of my imac, it’s an led lamp as seen below with 3 colour temperatures and 5 brightness levels that I have positioned behind for ambient light around iMac
I was recently looking at the BenQ screenbar halo after seeing one on a YouTube video but I only sit at the desk for a couple hours of hours max for breakfast/tea per day, I’ll probably get one eventually but I’ve spent enough recently.
