What did you buy today? (Part 1)

yeah would be sweet if they let you do prescription. my eyes are jacked in the opposite way so they kinda balance out in a ghetto way but can make looking through stuff like binoculars or vr headsets a bit weird

only recently started having to wear glasses regularly (last few months) now I’m crippled reading without them. never liked the idea of putting something directly on my eye much but my new glasses lifestyle might change that.

my current solution for the headphones that clamp a bit to hard on the arms is to put the arms on the top of the cups and have an extreme downward angle which works ok, but is obviously not the most elegant solution.

Another Bifrost 2 and RNHP… did M0N put you up to posting that?

Pretty good pair lol

No coercion needed. I did lean on his (and others’)RNHP suggestion though. I found a great deal on eBay and couldn’t resist. I got the Bifrost 2 as a front end for an all balanced signal DAC > preamp > amp and/or headphone amp. I do believe I got a like from Mon tho.:metal:

Bought an Aurorus Borealis, liked it at a show when I heard them and they have apparently further improved since then, most likely going to be replacing my 660s if it’s similar to what I heard at the show

I do the same. And when I using my pc I imagine something is asking me something stupid and I’m giving them the “stare over glasses look”

2 in stock. If only they were a bit cheaper, ughhh. Interested to see what you think of it. It seems like very good value besides the DIY-like build.

Yeah I’m curious to see if the sound is different from what I heard beforehand. The build was actually good, didn’t feel cheap or anything and comfort was pretty good too. Although the cable they had there was meh. From my experience it’s got an enhanced 650 like tuning, pretty capable but I don’t know if they are as impressive as people say (although that could change when I get them in lol). Also side note they don’t respond to an otl tube amp well. I think if you have a transformer coupled low z, set low z, hybrid, solid state you should be good though

From all I’ve heard/read about it, it seems to basically be an Elex upgrade in technicalities combined with a more natural ZMF-like timbre. Though arguably a downgrade in build quality which seems to be the one con.

I don’t know if I agree with the elex claim, the elex had superior staging and also was more dynamic to me, they did have similar detail though, but I don’t really think they are all that alike. I can see the comparison to a zmf aeolus timbre wise though, I might prefer them to the aeolus from the time I had when listening so far though (but that wasn’t a recent listen)

I was wondering what wood / color might work with copper, but there ya go! Very nice looking headphones! First ZMFs?

Is that an Abyss prototype?

It’s the new mysphere, similar comfort though, that’s unfortunate

New tubes for my lyr looking for socket savers now but not sure exactly which ones to get…

Thoughts on these or should I look elsewhere? Most headfiers got theirs from toobmonger but they are very old and now out of stock.

Yup, first pair, but not last. My other HP’s pales in comparison. It is truely worth the $.
