What do you get out of $800+ IEMs?

Just as the title says. What do you get out of $800+ IEMs that something in the lesser budget doesn’t get in terms of sound quality? All I know is that more expensive IEMs tend to have more driver’s, driver variety, or unique drivers like an EST.

I feel like at that price, you’re no longer paying for tuning or ‘flavour’ but are instead paying for more impressive technicalities like soundstage and imaging that can rival headphones.

higher resolution and as you mentioned, better technicalitites. Better qualitative factors essentially.

Tuning can also get better, but I find that a lot of iems in the 100-300 usd range do have very good tuning.

Yeah, for the most part at a certain point in audio, the details just get better.

It’s like the difference between a $40 bottle of whiskey and a $400 bottle. The $40 whiskey gives you everything you want compared to a $8 bottle that tastes like garbage. But with the $40/$400 comparison, the flavor profile might be the same, but the flavor details, craftsmanship, and overall complexity is better with the more expensive whiskey.

That’s kinda why I don’t upgrade too much. I don’t sit around listening to music, I do stuff to music. I want it all to sound great, not lacking something, but I’m not closing my eyes and trying to envision the music playing, pointing out the details. A $200 IEM is more than good enough for me, but generally I grab my Blon 03s. :stuck_out_tongue:
