I’m looking for a new keyboard and mouse…a typing focus rather than gaming. I am thinking about the Logitech G213 keyboard and either the MX Mouse 3 or the MX518.
what do you use? is it more for gaming or typing? what made you choose those particulars?
I use a Ducky one 2 and a model 0. I chose the ducky one 2 purely for the sound and build quality as it makes blues sound nicer than most boards. I really like blues for typing not the best for gaming but keyborad for me don’t matter as much for gaming. I use my tenkey a lot so I couldnt really love it for a TKL keyboard either. I have the model O because at the time when I bought it was the lightest mouse available. and the shape was similar to a mouse I used to use and really enjoy the benq FK . it uses a top sensor and is very good for tracking and flicks.
Razer Basilisk and Cooler Master Masterkeys Pro L nVidia Edition with Cherry MX red switches(it was the cheapest with cherry mx switches lol), also the most basic looking.
I have a CoolerMaster Novatouch with the Topre hybrids. I also had a Ducky One Mini with Reds that I liked for gaming, but it annoyed me to switch back and forth.
My mouse is the Logitech G Pro wired.
I have several mechanical keyboards (a bit like headphones i search for the perfect typing/gaming experience ).
Currently i use cherry MX blue based keyboards on both my “office at home” and my gaming computer. I prefer the tactile feedback of the blue when i type, also i prefer a bit heavier switches compared to i.e. MX red (that seems to be mostly prefered by gamers). MX brown and black are both ok too, and often they are a bit quieter, but they lack the sharper feedback when you type that i prefer. The one i am typing on now is a Corsair K70.
As for mice, i use a wireless corsair Harpoon on this “office at home” computer (works very well, and the form factor suits my grip, but i can see some complaining that it is a bit small, especially if you use a “palm” grip compared to the “claw” grip i use). On my gaming pc i also use a wireless mouse, a Logitech G403. That one also works great for me. The reason for having different kinds is that both are bought on sale about 6 months apart, so i didn’t have the choice of getting 2 of the same (wireless mouse classified as “gaming” mouse and with good response/accuracy while wireless, usually are pretty expensive).
Of the two i think i might prefer the Corsair, and the software to tweak dpi and “rgb effects” i definitely prefer the Corsair one. They are quite different in form factor, but both work for me, so i guess one should try before buying to see which suits you best.
I have a Corsair K70 Lux with Cherry MX Brown switches, really nice keyboard though it does require more cleaning than I care for due to the high keycaps.
For a mouse I’m using the Steelseries Rival 100. I wouldn’t really recommend it since the skin-like top layer started to come loose way to soon.
If you really want a typing keyboard, my recommendation is a Topre Realforce. They aren’t cheap, but personally I think they are the best off-the-shelf typing keyboard you can readily obtain. I use a uniformly weighted one at home, and a variable / ergonomically weighted model at the office. If you are into modding / customising, they’re definitely not as versatile as Cherry-based keyboards, but with perseverance you can make them look so nice!
Here’s a friend’s customised Realforce R1. Note: R2 is the current line-up.
