What headphones should i get next under 600$?

So i currently have Argon mk3, Sennheiser 58x for headphones and tin t2, blon 03, tin p1, ikko oh10, and moondrop starfields

I have ifi zen dac/amp connected to smsl sp200, and a few potable dac amps.

I am looking for my final ( i hope but who am i kidding) pair of headphone for 600$ or less. What would compliment what already have? Beyerdynamic 1990 pros? Neuman ndh20? I would like something to wow me like the argons did. They don’t have to necessarily be analytical, but just wow me… Open to suggestions, and thanks

What kind of sound are you looking for to fill the void and complement your other headphones? Also, what kind of music do you enjoy?

The Elex is pretty awesome. has a exciting W shape. Very detailed and awesome imaging. Its a reference headphone everybody knows about. Unfortunatly its on preorder off massdrop. but they are always going up for sale used. Other than that theres the Sundara, Neutral bright. DT1990, Neutral bright. Hifiman Edition XX, Warm, very large drivers. Sendy Avia, V shape. Be warned the NDH20 is a dark headphone. more for work.

Is there a sound in particular your looking for? If you just want a upgrade for the Argon the EMU teak might be for you.

I am shopping in the same price range and I have my eye on the Focal Elegia. I need a closed back for the office so they seemed like the best solution. I’ve heard a lot of good things about them from people I trust. You can find them used or open box between $450-$550 most of the time.

If your looking for open, Elex. Done.

If you want a DD that is?

I mean yes, but Elex were like a revelation for me personally and I’ve heard a lot of people say the same. They’re just great.

I got my Klipsch HP3s for $700 used and I always am a big supporter of buying used on a budget. Target 50%of MSRP or better from sellers with many transactions/reviews and you should be fine. I’ve acquired all of my gear 2nd hand with exception of my schiit products.

I listen to a lot of “rock” “nu metal” but really i listen to a very wide range. Classical, hiphop, bassy electronic. One of my favorite bands is tool. As to what kind of sound not sure im kinda new to all this and pretty much chasing the “wow” feeling that I’ve been getting with all the stuff i buy.

Very interesting will look in to elex. Was thinking about sundara as well who knows maybe both hahahah ( hope not)

DD?? What is this?

Looking at the collection it does lack a planar sounding planar.

Dynamic driver

For what you listen to, I agree the elex would be a solid choice for sure. I also think that you might want to consider the hifiman edition xx (warmer and more relaxed) or ananda (brighter and more analytical)

The Ananda and xx will have a very large and grand sound to them, and will have impressive layering and staging, and also have really nice impact too, overall interesting headphones

Thanks, im new to this!

So elex looks promising, but I can’t wait for them to ship at the end of August. Might be moving to europe. So where would u guys recommend picking up a used pair? Looked on ebay and found none

They are indeed hard to get at the moment, and also even harder to get in Europe, so that might not be feasible unless a used pair turns up for a reasonable price

Ugh would you say ebay is the way to go though? :frowning:

If a decent quality used pair comes up on eBay, it would be reasonable to buy from there imo

I would just keep your eye out on hifishark or something

Currently there aren’t any for sale though

I agree, but now im hyped for the elex… Things have shifted and i might get the sundara and wait for a deal on used elex whenever i can. And end up with both.
