What is in this kit?

I want to build a theremin. I’m a beginner, and all the builds I can find online are way beyond me, except this one…

It’s a kit, but all the pieces are off-the-shelf, or things I have lying around. No reason to pay 90 bucks for the kit. The instruction book is online too, and makes it look super easy.

Problem is, because these instructions assume a kit, nothing is labeled. So there are three resistors, two capacitors, and two integrated circuits, and nothing indicating what they are.

I can tell what the resistors are by the colour coding. The capacitors and ICs are still a mystery tho.

Research tells me the capacitors are 10nF each and the ICs are a 555 and a CD40106. But I am very unsure about that.

The top two black guys with bug legs are ICs. The next 3-legged black cylinder is likely a diode. You got the resistors. Colored rings tell you the value. Just to the left of the the resistors is two capacitors and all the other colored bits are connectors to bridge two legs of ‘distant’ parts.

Hope this helps and let us hear a recording of the completed theremin.
