What type of music does everyone listen to? Favorite genres/Artists?

The primary genre of music that I listen to is Blues and Blues Rock. Here’s several of the contemporary Blues artist’s that I enjoy…

Albert Cummings
Albert Castiglia
Walter Trout
Tommy Castro & The Painkillers
Buddy Guy
Michael Burks
Brandon Santini
Nick Moss Band
Mike Zito
Nick Schnebelen
Joe Bonamassa
Marcus King Band
Lil’ Ed & The Blues Imperials
Tab Benoit

I love old school Blues too!

Muddy Waters
Johnny Winter
Otis Rush
Magic Slim & The Teardrops
Freddie King
B.B. King
Albert King
Koko Taylor
Hound Dog Taylor

I also partied pretty hard in the 80’s, so I like all 80’s Rock, 80’s Classic Alternative, 80’s Pop, etc.

And lastly, I like Big Band, Jazz, Rat Pack and Swing music. Nothing like chillin’ to some Frank Sinatra with a nice cocktail in your hand…

I mainly listen to metal, in particular:
Slipknot
Marilyn Manson
Rammstein
Megadeth
Rhapsody Of Fire
Korn
Metallica

Outside from metal i also listen to opera (especially when there’s Pavarotti), Muse, and from time to time some Prodigy.

As of recent i wanted to expand my music collection, so if you have any artist you think deserves a listen let me know (from any genre, it could also be a soundtrack from a movie/video game, really anything that’s music)

Have you tried the combination of Metal and Opera? Such as Nightwish or Epica for example.

Never Heard of Epica, i’ll try them as well
Thanks for the suggestions!

Definitely check out Nightwish. Especially newer live videos.

I like a ton of Metal, particularly a lot of Prog-Metal and Prog-Rock. Something about it really keeps me coming back to it.

Some of my favorite albums:

Arch Echo:
You Won’t Believe What Happens Next!
Arch Echo

Guthrie Govan:
Erotic Cakes

Sithu Aye:
Set Course For Andromeda
26

Animals as Leaders:
The Joy of Motion

Haken
Initiate

Periphery:
Periphery
Periphery II
Periphery III
Periphery IIII
Periphery Omega

Wintersun:
Time I

Diablo Swing Orchestra:
Pacifisticuffs

Other than that, I listen to a lot of electronic artists, like:

Haywyre
Camellia
Moe Shop
Ujico/Snail’s House
S3RL
Pegboard Nerds
Stonebank
Tristam
Grabbitz

Though I listen to other genres about the same amount as well, things like Classical music, Anime OST’s or Video Game music, it’d be too tiring to list all of the different tracks, pieces and concerto’s (Those long fucking names)…

You should try Devin Townsend too if you havent already.

I happened to have downloaded a ton of his albums a couple days back, since I have some songs of his on spotify I really liked. He’s awesome indeed!

My favorite genre has to be Electroswing. There’s just a really positive energy and “toe-tapability” over it.

Sounds interesting. Can you rec some artists to check out?

Parov Stelar is a great place to start

I’ve been really into Folk lately. Here’s my Folk Favs Amazon playlist:

More traditionally a classic rock guy (raised by my uncles):

I’m really diving into other stuff lately though. That’s pretty much thanks to headphones and NPR Tiny Desk Concerts.

Skeewiff is also an interesting artist - I like the “Skeewiff in Wonderland”-album in particular

Anything from the 50s,60s,70s,80s,90s 2000s. Folk, Jazz and Blues, classic rock, classical, some of the Disco but not too much. Country but not all of it. As long as I have the equipment for it to sound good. I have a hard time listening to ANY music if it sounds bad. For instance, Pink Floyd was not meant to be heard on a shower speaker! Dean Martin on a shower speaker would also be bad! Are we noticing a pattern of not liking good music with bad sound?

I enjoy and listen to most music genres. Not knowing the language isn’t a barrier either. I like finding artists/songs that mixes two or more genres that wouldn’t normally go together and somehow pulls it off. I’m currently listening to a fusion or standalone of Korean, Japanese, EDM and metal. If it’s weird, I’d probably have it in my playlists.

Some of my favourites:

Korean

  • Dreamcatcher
  • Akdong Musician
  • Mamamoo

Japanese

  • GReeeeN
  • HIGH and MIGHTY COLOR
  • Maximum The Hormone

EDM

  • SaberZ
  • Au5
  • Mainly anything big room, chillstep, tropical house.

Metal

  • Nightwish
  • System Of A Down
  • Papa Roach

These days I’ve used my time to explore and dive deeper into other genres. Listened to a lot of ambient instrumentals, jazz and bosso nova, classical music and a bunch of tracks from the EDM sub categories. Listened to Pink Floyd, Coldrain and Uchikubi Gokumon Doukoukai for the first time.

I tend to like any music genre, but I feel like my favourite genre would be Blues!

Some of my fave artists are:

  • Muddy waters

  • Howlin’ wolf

  • Hugh Laurie (I only found out recently about his singing and music ability!)

This is just to name a few.

Mostly rock and metal

Pearl Jam
Sevendust
Alice In Chains
Nothing More
Badflower
Highly Suspect
Cleopatrick
Incubus
Tool
Alter Bridge
Metallica
36 Crazyfists

I’m subscribed to a YouTube channel called Prog Line that has approximately 280 albums in it’s database. I used to just surf Tidal buy searching prog but I have Amazon HD music now so I’ll have to look at their prog catalog. I’ve seen a fair number of the artists on your list live many years ago.
I saw Genesis in 1973 with Peter Gabriel all dressed up in his wild costumes… That’s something I’ll never forget for a kid in grade 10. LoL.
