My space is 5.5m*4.7m, kef 205/2 has a neutral sound, (three-way frequency, dual 8-inch bass and 6.5 midrange, sensitivity 90). I’m still using pioneer LX90 bi-amp now, and I’m considering replacing it with an amplifier with a lively fast speed, a thick warm sound, and more low frequency. How to choose these amplifiers and what other recommendations are there. Thank you!
From the amps you have listed, personally while the diablo 300 was a very nice amp when I got a demo, I don’t know if it would add the warmth and richness you are looking for but it is very fast and lively with great control and power
The accuphase with a more slightly warmer and sweeter tone with more body (and a bit less total grip, resolution, and dynamics than the diablo though, but it would still have great bass performance with the kef because the accuphase has plenty of current on tap since the kefs dip low in impedance imo) would probably be up your alley.
The ma8900 would definitely have the sound you are after signature wise, but personally in comparison to the other two options you have mentioned, I don’t know if I would say it holds up well considering the price, and I also don’t know if it would help your bass problem as I don’t recall it being that great of a pairing with the older kefs
With the 205/2, iirc it was very room picky, I would make sure to experiment with placement and position, and see if that can improve your low end as they can sound lacking if they aren’t placed ideally depending on the room. Also have you changed any of the HF plugs or LF cap on the back of the speaker?
Are you looking for something integrated? And also what dac or source would you be using? And lastly what do you like about your pioneer and what would you change?
