Don’t know if she has been mentioned, but Lalah Hathaway is an amazing vocalist
And Charlotte Day Wilson does a great job too
Don’t know if she has been mentioned, but Lalah Hathaway is an amazing vocalist
really like Karen Harding’s voice
This particular voice is worth mentioning, Fatoumata Diawara:
Something else altogether. Only recently found out about her courtesy of this fairly recent Gorillaz track where she’s a featured vocalist.
Both tracks entirely worth checking out.
I don’t know if this has been posted, but listen to this beautiful rendition of 'can’t help in love falling in love ’
Lots of great ideas here. Some of mine are Sara Bareilles, esp. solo Yellow Brick Road, Carrie Newcomer, try Sanctuary, and prob. THE one I never get tired of: Emilie Claire Barlow. Try albums Live in Tokyo, and Clear Day. But all are good. Can do uptempo, ballads, and her scat singing with matching instruments is amazing.
Oh wow
Just subscribed to her channel.
I don’t think that this one has already been posted, so, check these two singers out:
Have I mentioned her? I don’t like all of her compositions, but there are pieces she’s made that just… make me forget the world exists, and her voice is a big part of why.
Antje Duvekot
Also, this.
Re-sharing, because I re-discovered this song recently.
Very well recorded.
In the same vein as the previous post, and in honor of her new album, this is my favorite female singer at the moment: Natalia Lafourcade.
Ok… nothing to post for me now … she is definitely one of my favorite!
I forgot, in my earlier post, to mention Eva Cassidy. Gone way too soon, but what a voice!
Yes. Skylar Grey.
Oh wow, did not listen to this… original demo.
Dang, those two voices together are magical!
Looks like she… changed a bit.
(But then went back to darker themes just one week ago – NSFW NSFW NSFW)
When I discovered her in the NPR Tiny Desk Concert she did, it was around the time when YT’s broken recommendations algo kept recommending you the same videos over and over just because you’d listened to them once, and in Natalia’s case I was fine with it - I kept clicking it every time.
Now for more vocalists to mention, I’m having one of those tough choices again between posting someone in the singer-songwriters thread or here, and again I have to go with liking the voice more: Kimbra, who did “Somebody That I Used to Know” with Gotye, but to whom I’ve actually actively listened many times since that song (unlike Gotye, who is perfectly irrelevant to me ).
Now THAT is a voice !
