spotted a clearance promo on their Pro MP-1 Mixphones where they’re marked down by almost 50%. Googled and very little out there on them, but the one thread I found on HheadFi was pretty positive and most of the user reviews have them marked 4 out of 5 stars, so I’m thinking $170.00 might be worth trying them out.
Aventone is one of those brands where there is very little info on regarding their products…almost like it’s word-of-mouth only.
Those were the circular ones, right? Not the square-ish planar ones.
Read mixed things about them a long while ago.
You see their monitor speakers in home studios from time to time.
I have only ever tried the Avantone Planar after mentioning it on the forums and getting in contact with someone who owned a pair near me. They were not terrible, but nowhere near competitive at $299 which was the price at the time (don’t know if that has changed). I found headphones like the Hifiman HE-400 series to be better in both tuning and technicalities while costing significantly less.
That’s been my sole experience with Avantone. It could be that this has no bearing on the performance of their other products though so I’m sorry I can’t be of more help. If you end up giving those Mixphones a shot, please come back and update us on how they perform.
