Flathead Society’s Earbuds Ranking List

Version 15072024. Updates:

  • Renamed ranking title
  • From now on, updates will be posted as replies to this link as this link is referenced in other websites
README

We’ve prepared this post to collate all the wonderful knowledge and information on earbuds that exist on various forums and websites. The recommendation list is, like all audiophile ranking list, subjective, albeit we have tried to make it less so by only including earbuds that are reputable, as in, reviewed by multiple trusted earbud lovers.

We will try to keep this list as updated as possible. Our aim is not to reproduce an earbud release timeline like Woodyluvr’s famous document - rather, we want to make a one-stop shop for newcomers and veterans alike who are considering a new purchase.

Hope you find the info below useful! Note: within each category, the earbuds are listed in alphabetical order and do not reflect any prioritisation.

Deleted details wrong place

I may sound biased, but if the Sun Copper and Desolation Sound are in the God’s Tears tier, Aurora deserves a place there too.

I generally need a consensus from 2-3 people before making a ranking decision. So far, you’re the only one putting the Aurora on God’s Tears

That’s fair. I’ll ask the others.

Personally after a short and not the best place to listen either (CanJam) I’d not have that set in that tier…EGGSELLENT would be more appropriate IMO…can’t comment on the other two sets as I’ve not had a chance to hear them yet

Before hearing the Aurora, I would have chosen the Sun Copper for God’s Tears because till then nothing could have beaten it in terms of technicalities (resolution, separation, imaging, soundstage)… But LREY Aurora beat it in all those aspects along with everything else as well.

Ok so going by that metric then yes Aurora should be GODS TEAR and maybe Sun Copper down graded to the EGG :man_shrugging:

Mmm not really EGG, because it is still quite impressive in terms of techs…unless you have heard one of the EGGs and found them better than Sun Copper. I have only heard the Serratus, and SC was definitely better in terms of technicalities.

Totally different tuning tbh, so I guess it comes down to personal taste…I’d take Serratus over SC (but I’d like more time with SC to be 100% sure) but SC is not on the same level as Cypherus Audio Black Dragon Susvara imho, maybe Venture Electronics (VE) SMG is?
