I didnā€™t mean to say the MT-602 is the only great cheap hybrid :stuck_out_tongue:

I have no experience with the T6Pro but on first glance it looks like a good competitor to the MT-602!

Tight right, I should have replied to the OP

the mt602 is class a the aiyima is class d.

edit: they wont sound the same. class a and class d sound different in the bargain realm.

From what I can tell the MT-602 has a class A buffer; which is not the same as a class A amplifierā€¦

Based on the heat it generates and power it drows (none and very little) Iā€™d be extremely surprised if there was a fully class A amp in that little boxā€¦

Thanks for your replies - much appreciated! Iā€™ve set some guidelines as I traverse more into the hobby lol

  1. Spend as little as I can
  2. No more than $300 for a single piece of gear

On Reverb thereā€™s an Mt-602 going for $60. I might just negotiate for lower or wait till Black Friday for deals. My first thought after the OTL suggestion was the Xduoo Ta-26. I will slowly view all the options I have new or used. I thank you all for the time youā€™ve given to me 8^)

I mean, all things considered - $60 for an MT-602 is awesome and I love that little amp. Was just trying to push the possibilities and temper expectations in regards to ā€œtube effectā€. Grab one to play with for sure.

$60 for an MT-602 is an amazing deal and itā€™s definitly pretty tubey
Iā€™ve put in some Sylvania 6AK5ā€™s from the 50ā€™s and good god does it sound warm and mellow and honey-textured :stuck_out_tongue:

Hello, I am currently using the MT-602 as my primary headphone amp. It as driven my headphones with out having to turn the dial past 10 oā€™clock, but my hardest to drive headphones are 80-ohm/96db (DT 770) My inner geek really likes the Idea of getting a set of Fostex T50RP and tinkering with them to Taylor the sound to my liking. What I donā€™t want is to go down a rabbit-hole of expenditure on amps to power them. Has anyone used the MT 602 with T50RPs and found the power to be sufficientā€¦ or not?
