The XD05 BAL from xDuoo is on sale from Drop for $249. I am wondering is it worth it for that price. Is there a better one for that price?
For that price, I’d just grab a Hiby R4 and have way more features in a neater package.

It would come down to desired use case in all probability. The XD05 has more power & 6.35mm so could potentially work with a larger assorment of HPs. Though a DAP as the R4 has a source onboard or via stream possibilites without the need to dongle up to anything else and is more suited (not limited to) In-ears.
Regarding the OPs question though, I am not familiar enough with portable DAC/Amps to comment on if there is a better one than the XD05 for that price or not.
