Hello everybody.
I’ve had my Yamaha AG06 Mixing Console for a little over 2 years now and I must say I like it very much.
Currently I use the Philips Fidelio X2 as my main pair of Headphones and have a set of custom built speakers powered by a the t.amp E-800 connected aswell for when I want it to be a little louder.
My PC is connected via USB, a Technics SL-D3 Turntable feeding into a Pro-Ject Phono Box II pre-amp into channel 5/6, I abuse the keyboard input as an input for my bluetooth receiver, because the volume of the AUX input cannot be regulated on the mixer. A Modmic 4 is connected via the headsets 3.5mm to channel 1.
Yamaha’s AG-DSP Controller Software is a little clunky to use, I’ve had trouble on multiple occasions getting it to recognize the Mixer. But once I got my Microphone compression and equalizer set up I’ve never had to touch it again.
Since the AG06 has the highest-end DAC (Cirrus Logic CS4270-CZZ) I’ve yet listened to, the sound quality is to my satisfaction and when I listen to music on my phone or laptop, the difference is very obvious.
The loopback functionality is very useful for when I want other people in a voicechat to hear something I’m listening to, although I can’t imagine, that this is the usecase that feature was designed for.
As I could not find any internal pictures of the device I took it upon me and took the mixer apart to shoot some myself. I hope I captured the main points of interest for people who are knowledgeable on Audio-PCB design. The back of the DAC daughterboard was covered with a RF-shield, which was soldered on, so I didn’t remove that. Maybe in the future I will do that. You can find the images here.
All in all, I’m very satisfied with the device, regarding both audio quality and featureset/usability given the pricetag of around 125€.
If you have any questions I’m glad to answer them to the best of my abilities.
