šŸ”¶ ZMF Aeolus

I hope so. I can say with certainty that I no longer have interest in the Stellias, and they were my final closed back plans. I want to see the Verite Closed now, but they’d really have to be incredible to make me want them over the Eikons. These are without exaggeration the best headphones I’ve ever heard

I had a different roadmap for headphones I wanted to try before getting an aeolus. I was thinking about focal and others, but now I’m just thinking about getting a tube amp and exploring zmf’s other headphones instead, that’s how much I like what I heard. So I don’t doubt that the eikon sounds as good as you say. I think I’d be in more disbelief if you told me they sounded like trash.

I’m trying to figure out my tube plans now. Message me if you want to hear what I have and what I’m considering. Its all ZMF focused at this point

i have a hybrid tube, the Garage 1217 Ember. Do you think that would sound good with the Aeolus? Or should a get a full tube amp?

When you get your headphones in, I’d like to hear what you experiment with and settle on for sure.

I haven’t gotten in my Aeolus to test it yet, but it supposedly benefits from 100 hours + burn in. Don’t judge it from your first listen. I like tubes, but that doesn’t mean you need to. Try it off of everything you own

The Eikons sound sooo good off the La Figaro 339. It’s not clean, and there is a lot of noise when no music is playing but once the music starts it’s truly the best audio experience I’ve had

The Topping NX4 paired with the aeolus sounds like absolute ass. Like you’re in a cozy warm house and some asshole broke in and opened all the windows and all the warmth just got sucked right out those windows.

The LG V20 by itself runs the aeolus acceptably though.

I literally listen for a week non-stop before I feel I can make an accurate decision for any headphones I get lol. I try to listen as long as I can

yeah but if you get a crappy headphone you have to listen to it for a week lol

True, but I really don’t try an go for a crappy headphone lol. I have heard a few headphones that put me off initially, but then liked them afterwords. You really can’t get a sense of a headphone with limited usage. That being said there are headphones that start off bad and end up bad to me lol, but that’s very rare

well i hope youre right, i really want to like this headphone. ive heard so much about it and all the reviewers love it

The point is you can’t determine if you have something good or bad without more extended listening.
Burn in is a real thing, drivers change in tonality and frequency response as they initially fatigue.
But the bigger thing is your brain perceives anything different as odd, and it takes extended listening to get past that.

I wouldn’t force yourself to like a headphone if it isn’t enjoyable or you don’t like something about it then thats fine just cuz something is supposedly good doesn’t make it good

I absolutely agree. Just make sure you give it enough time to actually evaluate it to make a reasonable decision

300 Ohm headphones combined with a good but lower powdered amp? Sounds about right to me!

I personally prefer a large amount of powder on my amp

Absolutely. More than anything I’ve found recently if I’m not using a large amount of powder the music just sounds off to me. Snorting the powder also makes the soundstage wider and more natural sounding.
