mix with colour shifted right to make it easier to see difference

(edit: changed the colour of colour shifted right side since there being 2 greens made it hard to see)

I donā€™t have proper recording equipment but thereā€™s phone apps that can show FR so I tried putting white noise on and shoving the tip into my phone mic. Lower end isnā€™t accurate but treble shows exactly what Iā€™ve been hearing - some chopped off bit making sounds uncomfortably unbalanced

Add:
On a side note, this might be what the disparity in reviewer opinion is: my left side is bright and sparkly barely on the good side of shouty while my right side treble sounds recessed and hollow with that ā€˜listening from outsideā€™ feel that one reviewer mentioned and stronger bass and mids presence.

I hope my replacement set ends up on the sparkly end but more importantly that its more balanced on both sides

Bugged seller until they offered replacement but Iā€™m not sure how thatā€™s gonna work out on aliexpress. They tried offering a replacement cable at first but Iā€™ve had the same problem with a different cable so I flat out refused. Weā€™ll just have to see how it goes down in the coming weeks

If you read my message carefully youll see that i already managed to tame it with tip roling.
Mentioned it because the harshness is comming from that peak, and it was claimed by some burn in enthusiast that harshness is gone for him after 300 hours or so burn in.

Its my first post here, so hello everyone
Recently recieved mine, and although Iā€™m VERY pleased with the sound(holy shit theseā€™re fast), Iā€™m experiencing annoying crinkling sound in right iem while inserting, moving my jaw, or even walking. From what Iā€™ve read this looks like a driver flex. Would you guys consider it worthy opening a dispute on aliexpress, or would it be just waste of effort considering potential return costs?

Hey there,
Not sure if driver flex is even a thing with planars, but i can tell you that even plugging the vent hole thats near the nozzle after which air doesnt have a way to escape, and putting them that way in the ear i still didnt hear any crinkling. And it should definitely have it that way if there was a potential for flex.
I have a different set with dynamic driver that has flex, and while it can be heard while putting the iem in, havent heard any while moving the jaw or walking.
Maybe the tip is loose and moving your ear hairs, thus the crinkling perception? Try different tips just in case, try sizes that would give you shallower and also deeper insertion, and ones that wont move in your ear to compare if you hear that with every tip.

maybe its the bore of the eartip rubbing against the cone during movement? I know I get that way too often with my spinfit

It wonā€™t be driver flex with a planar especially one with 3 vent holesā€¦planarā€™s can crinkle when the head is moved but again unlikely with such a small enclosed diaphragm itā€™s more a possible HP problem tbhā€¦maybe a loose backplate as folks have had theirs come unglued.

PS apart from the ā€œcrinklingā€ sound is there any channel imbalance?

Those 3 vent holes are bit deceiving in that regard. By just taping over the nozzle vent hole and trying to put them in, youll get the impression that your ears want to explode. While the 3 vent holes do play a role in the bass tuning, seems like only air outlet while youre putting them in is that nozzle vent hole.

Tried with cp100ā€™s, and all medium sized tips included with the Timeless. Actually with cp100, the effect seems to be least prominent, but I just took it as ā€œswivelā€ mechanism sound taking over. Worst offenders are stock tips(clear with black bore. My Timeless are ones with ā€œpaperā€ filter), which is a bummer, cause I like how they sound. Iā€™m considering buying Final Eā€™s to explore things further, as theyā€™ve been recommended a couple of times here
Also, if its the hair thingy, should I, dunno, shave them to remove that effect?

Well you said it, you like how they sound, thats whats important. So no space for bummers there

Oh absolutely, its just if I could get by WITHOUT that damned clicking haha

Cmon now, shave them? Do it the manly way, BURN THEM WITH FIRE

Slight imbalance in high frequencies, Iā€™ll elaborate on which exactly later, as Iā€™m not at home rn. Right one is louder  its nothing major tho, found it out while doing sine sweep out of curiousity.
I do now own measure rig, so cannot provide a graph or concrete data sadly.

Now we talkinā€™, ima get my blowtorch. :sunglasses:

Has anyone tried foam tips?
I donā€™t have any and I wanā€™t to try how it sounds

now thatā€™s interesting cos I have an issue with my right being quieter in the highs. would be quite interesting to meet and compare our units but i doubt youā€™re in the same country as me

Iā€™m considering buy this IEM because I can get it for 165 USD, I love planar drivers on headphones but I donā€™t know if sounds similar on IEM. Iā€™m seeing this post and I donā€™t know if worth buy them for the issues in the QC and the imbalance, Iā€™m thinking to buy them on HifiGo via Amazon

Are the Kato a good option too?

Yeah, from what Iā€™ve heard so far we Timeless owners should throw a Timelesscon, and spend it trying to match units

A snippet of my chat with the person on the other end of the warranty guide qr code

Btw my treble imbalance sounds more like someone took a low shelf filter and scooped out 5+++dB of my 3k-8k region

If the store has a good return policy just go for it I donā€™t see how bad it can get. When itā€™s not being trash sounding from treble imbalance I just find tracks with multiple instruments magical with how well separated they are. A great buy if not marred by a scooped treble
