I donāt know .For someone this headset is the non plus ultra. Is it a moron in headfi who sold all your 1000$+ iems like the Mest and bought three pairs of Timeless
Then ! he spent hundreds of dollars on cables to perfect the sound
Everyone knows that the Timeless sounds ridiculous without eq . However, it responds shockingly well to the eq. I hope the over 1000mW amps gives enough bass and body for the Timeless.
The stock tuning is pretty close to my ideal, but I am a fan of their bass elevation and the transition into the mids. Everyoneās tuning preference is different, and while I have a hard time thinking that Timeless is better than MEST for someone, that is probably a lack of imagination on my part.
That said, I would never sell all of my other IEMs. I have two pairs coming in the mail, Tin T3+ and KZ CRN, and I still like a nice pair of open back for sound stage ( I have the HE400se on right now, and testing a new balance cable on them ). There is a reason that we all should have a collection. I like to change things out, and try different gear for different types of music, music, and gaming.
You know whatās funny? Waking up one day and suddenly not having any need to use EQ on anything (except the broken sounding FH3 I need to sell).
After all this obsessing with EQ Iām suddenly fine without it.
And yes Timeless is great and yes itās a step above Starfield and ER2SE and yes while itās his subjective list, the spot on Crincleās list is totally deserved and justified (A, A tuning, A technicalities).
Impressive depth of the lows on first listen. Highs are more controlled than I would expect from the FR graph. Nice, āliquidā (Shure-like I might say) midrange presentation. Good transparency and stage.
But Iāll suspend judgment until after I burn them in.
Fit is a bit of a problem, for me with timeless: iām pretty used to deep insertion with iem, and the shape of this thing prevents that kind of insertion.
I have to stick with shallow insertion, then, but here my ear shape comes in play and mess things up: I definitely have an asymmetrical thing there, so I have to find a different size for each sideā¦
For now I stick with the ānormalā default tips (M on left, L on right). I tried the other tips, but they gave the shape too much of a V FR.
Same thing with cp145.
The cp100 tips though fit this set well, regarding sound signature.
I use cp100 with it. Best fit for me. Havent tip rolled much as I didnt find the need
I little better with Sennheiser IE Pro tips for me.
Though spinfits are fine the Sennheiser tips have a wider opening to the ear canal which helps the highs with more detail.
Still tip rolling though. Not sure whatās the best sound wise.
Iām stuck on either JVC spiral dot and Azla Crystal.
I think those sennheiser tips have tuning filters, dont they?
Yes, which I removed.
I got a replacement pair for my Timeless (one of them came apart) and holy shit these are bad. There is a resonant sound coming out of them that just distorts some frequencies completely. It kinda sounds like a rattling sound, so I removed the filter on the right one which was being more resonant. No difference, still some frequencies just go brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr
this did not happen at all with the first pair i had
The RAM album sounds very good for me with Timeless (In special DSD release I can share via telegram, see above)
mechanical crackle on some frequencies, which means it is resonance, no?
so i guess these IEMs have went from hard recommendation to hard avoid quickly for me. shame.
Iām having a nice blast time with Timeless, even tho itās not my favourite tuning. Great set for the price, thatās for sure
RAM is also
You can call it as you want until the reason is established.
But personally, I believe that you can only describe the sounds that you hear until you fully see the cause of this phenomenon with your own eyes.
As for ranking labels:
I think it is like lottery game.
Hypers won.
Haters lost.
Agree: Quality control is totally shameful
Thatās the biggest caveat of Timeless, Iām afraid and also the reason Iām looking forward for S12.
Also what the hell is going on. The first time I tried the replacement pair, I got the distorted sound from the left unit. After a while it went away. now it is back on the right one, stronger than ever. If I press it deeper into my ear, it almost goes away.
same thing and if I try to describe It hten itās āhysteresisā. Once it happens then I have to listen on more quiet sound level to be disappeared again.
also rest time heals them) (or magic metal chestā¦ I donāt know)
Try to cover front bypass with Insulation or sticky tape and cover nozzle with your finger. Then noise go away and it convinces me of the relationship between air movement and noise.
Noise disappears when placed deeper and tighter in the ear (and appears when take off from the ear) - same.
But one main thing that I want to concider: all this relates to some unusual loudness level for me. When i want to pile up the volume and bass at all i get this noise triggerā¦
Ear protection system in did
I do listen to music quite loud, shorter sessions. So it makes sense.
But this did not happen with the first pair at all. I remember blasting some tunes and being blown away how clean the sound was. Well not anymore!
Anybody experimented with best cable matches for the Timeless?
I turned them balanced with Fiioās LC-RC and this improves stage and separation while rendering the presentation more neutral which might not be evereoneās preference.
Question: silver or copper-based cables would match better?
