šŸ”¶ 7HZ Timeless Planar

The Timeless can play rock. I listen to rock and metal. The fact Cal you prefer the Olina is great. It is hard to not like a well done single DD. Enjoy it that is all that counts. I am assuming your talking Classic Rock and groups like Tool. Rock covers tons of different styles .

Timeless works for most of the classic rock I enjoy, but I totally agree rock covers a ton of ground.
Weird to think that Tools is classic rock, but I suppose it qualifies in 2022.

My library is very close to the HBBā€™s ā€¦ just swap out the hip-hop and add in a bunch of early prog rock. My two favorite bands are Zeppelin and Rush.

I agree that Olina sounds better than Timeless for 60s and 70s classic rock. I am guessing if I went to something a bit more 80s or 90s hard rock, Timeless would be closer to ideal. Timeless is outstanding when I get in the mood for Iron Maiden, which is still my favorite metal band.

Yeah I should have been a bit clearer when I said rock. I shouldnā€™t speak for the whole genre or rock. I felt like timeless were lacking a bit when listening to early Pink Floyd, Coheed and Cambria and Paramore mainly. I didnā€™t really notice much with 80s rock but I also donā€™t listen to much 80s rock.

Specifically, guitars just felt thin to me. A bump in the lower mids probably would have fixed the issue

for anyone wondering about power:
recently got to borrow a Qudelix 5k and a timeless with 2.5mm cable(I use 3.5mm so a second set with the different jack was handy). I set it to high power mode which does 4V RMS over 2.5mm or 2V RMS over 3.5mm. it sounded virtually identical to my cheapo CX31993 thatā€™s not even 5% the price. Ofc the 5k is expensive for its excellent sound quality over bluetooth but my point is 1V/2V/4V sounded identical to me for the few hours I got to play with it. Literally just volume difference. Timeless is a measly 14.8ohm; power doesnā€™t really matter just get the cheapest transparent sounding dac you can find.

I have found the Qudelix sounds best to me in balanced high power mode.

I am going to take another listen to mine again this weekend I must have 400+ hours on them but put them up for sale and packed them up.

I have been listening to the Penon Globe and Obsidian OH10 as my daily rotation and just fell out of love with the TIMELESS the soundstage is dismal compared to the other 2.

So many people here love them is it because of what is it?

I canā€™t be alone 3 others for sale as well in my local market and none are selling for 200 CDN

Not sure if I should just keep?
Thoughts :thought_balloon: plz.

Tastes are different and there are reasons to not like the timeless. If you have IEMs you like better there is no need to keep the timeless (except you donā€™t care for money and want the timeless as a reference or as a collection piece).

In regards to the quantity of timelesses on the second hand market: This is pure speculation, but an acquaintance of mine bought a used timeless with a bad channel imbalance. Used timelesses may or may not often be samples with QC issues that the owner canā€™t return because of the shopā€™s return policy.

different tips can make or break things as well I use stub tips on my OH10ā€™s which increases bass but reduces soundstage so my timeless actually has slightly better soundstage
Iā€™ve had my OH10ā€™s longer but have used my Timeless more, it fits my music preferences more often

I think the 2nd hand market has slowed down a bit - summer weather, lockdown restrictions loosening, concerts, travel - people are spending their discretionary income on other things. Having said that, I sold a pair of Timeless in April for $220 CAD.

If I were you, Iā€™d be patient and keep them listed to try to free up cash for other IEMs.

Sold to a audiophile who will love his first IEM actually had sellers remorse a bit they are a great IEM. :disappointed_relieved:

It would not surprise me if you bought one of the planars again. I love my Timeless but they are not perfect, Enjoy your next purchasešŸ‘

The Timeless is an amazing set, I sound like such a broken record at this point. Itā€™s still baffling to me, Iā€™m going somewhat crazy trying to understand why this is but to MY EARS the Timeless sounds more resolving with better layering than my Monarch MKIIs. It may be down to the tuning or something but I can absolutely hear a noticeable difference in resolution. The Timeless will always be a set that I keep until they die I feel.

it seems frequency wise just up my alley and at a price point that seems very logical for me (the 320 for a blessing 2 dusk felt like too much when my headphones were already 350ā€¦ IEMs often just seem like they should be cheaper)ā€¦ i just wonder how is the impact and stuff on the timeless compared to others with a dynamic

for general fun listening I use timeless over pretty much everything even having a Mest mk2 lol
the Thor Mjolnir mk2 is quickly becoming a close second for me though

I think after tonight, Iā€™ll be doing the same, Iā€™m even considering selling my Monarchā€™s. I just literally hear a difference and with the timeless, I find them a more fun set and Iā€™m just able to Enjoy the music more. Somehow, someway the Timeless has a more tame upper mid/lower treble sig as well. Iā€™m starting to think my monarchā€™s are defective, even.

if you want impact a well done dynamic will be better than a well done planar.
dynamics usually sound a bit more natural with low end like drums.
timeless is good for a planar though unless you A/B you might not notice.
I generally find planars to be better with songs that have lots going on over dynamics.

hmmmā€¦ i dunno what i mean by impact or dynamic even to be honestā€¦ i just know that when i make my sundaras bassy enough they have that impact and THUMP factorā€¦ the thing that might important before i figure it out (especially since i dunno what would be an alternative to a timeless at the price of 200-250, again spending more on IEMs than headphones seems overkill since though i use them often when i can use my headphones i use them instead) is how it might work with my library which is mostly hip hop, electronic, pop, and hard rockā€¦ music that is mostl heavy and enveloping and needs that specific energy

electronic + timeless is a yes
hiphop/pop not sure I donā€™t listen to those really
hard rock itā€™s solid but there are better pairings

At first I didnā€™t enjoy the lack of thump. Turns out that the thump is actually fatiguing/distracting when I go back to DDs.

Another quirk is that I listen at much lower volumes no problem. Once you give planar a long enough chance, itā€™s very hard to ignore what they bring to the table.
