šŸ”¶ 7HZ Timeless Planar

Yeah, no time is a great song and example. I wanna know how it fares on female vocals, basicly.

I enjoy ariana more, thanks to Variations

Bad Guy - Timeless sounds awesome. Perfect resolution, clarity and speed. Itā€™s compressed tho so its slam is limited. Stage is OK. The stereo field is fine going back and forth from left to right but it is quite flat. (little to no front to back separation) FR is quite nice and generally balanced with some nice attention paid to a pleasing bass emphasis.

In general, I think Timeless sounds awesome with itā€™s best of class resolution and clarity. As its graph shows, itā€™s going to be a safe tuning for must music. Think Clarvoyance/Mele. I still think Variations will be the winner when it comes to imaging, separation, tuning specifically for female vocals and especially sub bass emphasis. Timeless is a safely tuned IEM with excels at speed and clarity/resolution.

Can you test Luv Letter - DJ Okawari?

I wonder how the Timeless and 3 dt compare.I finishing the week with the Dusk so I have a good idea how it sounds to me. I am aware the 3 dt slams harder which I like. I had various planar speakers so I think I understand the compression the Timeless has. Thanks! The Timeless seems the outstanding in certain areas but might not be what I want. I am interested in the 3 dt.

Soo what happens when you introduce a phat bass shelf below 100Hz? Might help with perception of slam.

The 3DTā€™s slam comes from the weight of the notes more then the elevation of the notes. It gives a very heavy feel while being very fast and nimble in very fast technical sections.

If you want slam, the 3DT will bring the slam. The watch out for the 3DT is the treble tuning. It can be a bit much. The Timeless can not touch the MEST MKII or 3DT for slam, but the Timeless has the 3DT when it comes to resolution.

Make sense?

I doubt that because of the compressed nature of the driver. I donā€™t think the driver is capable more slam because I donā€™t think it will move more air like a dynamic driver can.

I surely can try and report back.

The Timeless is the perfect IEM for one of my favorite songsā€¦ OMG this sounds outstanding on Timeless! Perfect vocal clarity on these.

1:48 to try the sense of bass bounce and tautness. Itā€™s my go to song for that

It raises the bass amount but it is not slamming harder at all, quite the opposite. It bleeds into all the other frequencies.

Extra bass does not equal more slam. And bass is not slam. Upper frequencies slam too.

When Iā€™m describing slam, what I mean is how hard it feels when the transients hit my eardrum.

Timeless = hearing the transient.

MEST MKII = hearing and feeling the transient hit me.

There has to be some level of slam in any audio we hear, itā€™s just the difference between how much slam the driver is capable of. Iā€™m trying to point out the differences Iā€™m hearing that make the Timeless different/special for anyone interested in purchasing it.

The lack of slam is a by product of the driver techā€¦you get the same with stax to some degree.
A dd has greater physical extension so can move more air for the equivalent area of diaphragm.
For a planar to have slam it needs area (check out one of the bigger Magnapans) but the small 14mm mm in the Timeless is never going to compete with a dd (or even a BA) but it has other qualities the others donā€™t haveā€¦,you pays your money and takes your choice.
Not sure you could realistically get a bigger driver in an iem and keep it wearable and comfortable either.
One thing I have found is that the Timeless only really comes on song at a certain volume which is a bit higher than Iā€™d normally listen to so Iā€™d be interested to hear if other folks hear a change with volume.?

gotchaā€¦Iā€™m actually not a fan of the shelf function on APO. Doesnā€™t seem to work nearly as well as just raising each band individually

My HE6se V2 can slam pretty hard, but yeah totally agree. Itā€™s a planar driver and itā€™s just not going to be able to do what other drivers can. It is fantastic at detail, clarity and resolution though. Itā€™s just unfortunate that it is so compressed that it compromises the staging and imaging.

Agreed. Iā€™m running these about twice as hot as most IEMs. Itā€™s on par with the Clairvoyance which I believe is the most difficult IEM I have to drive properly.

Still - on low gain and below 8-9 oā€™clock on A90. Most IEMs run around 3-4 oā€™clock.

A unicorn also dies when you compare B2 / Dusk and others with Zen! Hahahaha ā€¦

Would pick dusk or teas 10 out of 10 times over zen. I donā€™t need slam as hard as people in here do.

Lesson was preferences matter. Zen is a slammer and lets leave it at that.

Iā€™m not a fan of using any form of EQ with IEMs.

Okay. I agreeā€¦
