yes i will buy an amp my music preferences are edm rock and sometimes classical but i dont listen to music that often and i will most likely use them all day

Do you plan on getting an amp as well, or just headphones? Also what type of signature do you prefer?

I would recommend the dt990 pro or the dt770 pro for gaming. I’ve played CS with both and are great But I can’t compare at the moment because I don’t own either anymore. @M0N will have that information

It depends on if they have an amp or not, I would only recommend the 250 ohm and up for the 880

@keshav_mehta What is your budget? Could you afford an amp/dac for the headphones? If you can, then your options open up way more for getting higher quality versions of the Beyerdynamic DT880 and the 990.

I would take the HD58X in to consideration unless massdrop is simply not an option due to shipping or something. Edit: I forget to mention that the HD58X do not need an amp, unlike the beyers.

Otherwise the beyers are both very good for gaming. I know that some pro gamers to use the DT 990, but if they are anything like the DT770 then the 250 ohm are the best but require an amp (I would recommend the schiit fulla or maybe the Hel if you can afford the extra $80).

For music the HD58X are the best but the DT770 250ohm and the SHP9500 are pretty good as well. A lot of people find the DT990 to be to sharp and not enjoyable for music but I know some people also like them so ymmv. The grado are not bad, but since you asked about durability I would not recommend the sr60e.

As for durability, not grado, they are horribly built. The rest are fine from what I know. The HD58X should stand the test of time like many people’s HD600s have. The beyers are very durable and will be great if you kind of abuse your headphones.

The prices you listed are all about right accept for the SHP9500. Those should definitely be less than $100. Also the DT990 will probably drop in price to about the same as the DT770 at some point if you wait. Beyers seem to change price a lot.

I think the 880 600 ohm and maybe the 990 600 ohm are the best for competitive gaming, and also very good for music. Only if they have the power or can get a good amp/dac.

I think the 600ohm are usually more expensive and are a bit prohibitive because you need a pretty powerful amp to drive them. The 250ohm still should have an amp but you can get away without one for gaming and any decent ~$100 amp will do.

Yeah you can grab something like a dac x6 and be fine

Unless you can find a Fiio K5 Pro for a good price. They usually sell for $150 brand new and certainly have enough power for those 600 ohm models.

That’s kinda pushing the budget too much imo, but who knows lol

Yeah. Only if budget allows of course.

That’s why I think the HD58X might be the best choice if they can get them. Or the DT990 250ohm since you can get away without using an amp and gaming is their first priority.

If you chose the Dt990 check the edition instead of the pro, waay more comfortable…

I think if they go for a lower ohm version than the 800 250 ohm would be good if they are sensitive to treble and sibilance. A great majority of people find the treble too harsh on the 990 compared to the 880. Unless you like sharp treble and aren’t sensitive to it, like RiceGuru. There’s many out there who like that sound. All depends on preference.

i dont have the option to buy them

yes i will get an amp

these are the only available options in my price range

thanks man
