AFUL Explorer 1DD+2BA Hybrid In-Ear Monitors

As long as it works in the end! Glad to hear!

AFUL uses smooth, no-lip nozzles on the Explorer and MagicOne, which is dumb.

Dunu S&S have stayed on my Explorer so far, but Final Audio Type E slip off my MagicOne all the time.

I tried the DunuS&S but they are not a good fit for my ear. Ive tried so many… Spinfit W1 works great for my ear and doesn’t change much the sound.

Yeah, that lip on the Explorer is dumb. I might even go o-ring like suggested here.

I find most people either love or hate the Dunu S&S tips. For me they tend to be my goto when I am having issues getting a good seal, but I use a medium on them, while nearly all other tips I am a small.

I am a big Spinfit CP100+, they have a nice middle ground on how tacky the silicone is, and the Final Series E are another favorite of mine.

I’m the opposite. I usually go a size down with the Dunu due to their cylindrical, non-bell shape. But I do dig them. The tip I reach for most consistently.

Everyone’s ears are different.

so i just wanted to come back to this a bit, i did try @Sonofholhorse unit he sent and it may be because its broken in and mine was like fresh out of the box but his does not get on me as much but there are still some spots for me with higher volumes and S’s and T’s. Im likely just sensitive and in all honestly am not used to BA timbre since im mostly on Planar’s and single DD’s. Im gonna continue breaking in my set and will be a/b ing against the Doscinco which comes in today. i do really enjoy the bass, i think its right up my alley, i def prefer fullness and some more warmth in the lower mids and def need mid bass. this has been interesting to try this set along with another i was sent, more to come.

Doscinco will solve all your desires, mostly the bass and midbass. Explorer has its awesomeness but can’t touch the Dos.

They are pretty apples-to-oranges for sure haha. Explorer is for relaxing and, well, exploring where Doscinco is the party-starter!

Party-starter? I listen to full 1h, 1h30min trance sets on the Dos with ifi Xbass on, its a full party package lol.

Gimme that midbass slam.

Well now I’m even more happy

With regard to the Explorer don’t force it man if it doesn’t work for you put it aside and move on, its alright.

It’s interesting how the Explorers can be one way with so many folks, but a totally different way to your ears… Don’t feel bad, brother, it happens! It’s just another example of how crazy this hobby can be.

I really hope the Dos works for you and your bass needs, I do remember those being very warm and bassy but lacked contrast and dynamics but as we all know now, our ears must be totally different so the Dos might be a fantastic set for you!

I call this “balance” it terms of the Dos. I see what you mean though. Defo a specialist set

ya im learning and it was a great experience, im just gonna look at it as narrowing down preferences, and chasing tuning instead of price/driver set.

im gonna give it about a week to acclimate and try all my sources and tips, and yes like the whole going strictly off graphs for me as a consumer personally is going to be tough going forward. This forum and the reviewers are so important, the journey continues

I also want to add that my pref could lean more toward coherency or a cohesive sound since my dailies forever have been single drivers, I’m taking everything into account

Did you receive your Doscinco?

i did, gonna listen at work when i have some time, off a BTR 15 and a Muse M4, noisier environment but ill get some ear time

Very good point. There are very many IEM companies and consumers who automatically default to “more drivers are better” when that is clearly not always the case.

i got stuck in that for awhile, like i wanted to hear an EST implementation and bone conduction and different brand BA’s, plus how many yada yada. Tuning first, techs later
