AFUL Explorer 1DD+2BA Hybrid In-Ear Monitors

I felt it would’ve been a much better option to use an android phone with Moonriver 2Ti :joy:

Sadly we dont get Sony phones in India anymore, I had LG V30+ and it was pretty good for the time it was launched, I know a couple of friends who are still using V20 as their dap

Guys Cantor is coming up and the Faceplate looks good hehe. I think I will grab a set.

I don’t want to hijack the Explorer thread with my thoughts on the RAW. I created a separate post with some quick thoughts on the RAW-MDA1.

Yo it’s kind of crazy how the faceplate design could dictate a blind buy :joy: you’re wild, brother

I did some digging but nothing REALLY matches up 1:1. Closest examples seem to be something like the SA6 mkII, Symphonium Meteor or something like 64 Audio’s U6t/U12t/U4S with the M15/M20 modules (fat but controlled bass shelf, flat mids to low pinna gain and smooth but extended treble). Aful may actually be the ones to put out a higher-end successor at some point, given that Explorer seems realitively well-received.

hahaha i actually heard the prototype back at Canjam Sg. It needed retuning, let’s see what they have done with the final one.

Thanks for looking! I don’t think I’ll ever get rid of the Explorer but eventually I’d like to get a higher-tiered version now that I know what I like.

I don’t think any of my tips would fit that nozzle.

U12t also has this kind of nozzle. Tip rolling can be a difficult task, hope they provide good tips in the box.

Yo what the heeeelllll kind of nozzle is that lol

That nozzle makes the IEM seem like an AFUL/Etymotic collab… :grin:

That nozzle looks like a rectal probe.

I hate to hijack the Explorer thread with more talk of the mythical/overhyped Cantor, but if the excessive length of those nozzles isn’t to create more space to cram in more drivers, then what’s the point? I get a certain level of insertion is needed for fidelity, but that’s ridiculous.

Sad to see Aful fall prey to the marketing gimmick of “more drivers is more” that seems to be more prevalent these days in the IEM world. I love and own its MagicOne and Explorer models, but the more I see of the Cantor (although no price), the more this looks like a pass. Tuning will tell the tale, as always, but the ergonomics of that nozzle are beyond WHACK.

added that to my AE wishlist, that looks cool

I am using a Samsung S22 and typically use a KA17 or BTR5 with it.

@RBRIII did say Etymotic collab
