I will sleep to this tonight.
Good eve, all. Taking a deep dive into the CDs that came in a couple of days ago
I have ripped the CDs (and all my classical CDs) as FLAC to a USB drive and am using the new upgraded MP11 app. Very strong. I’m becoming a much bigger fan of Mozart and his work. This is my second pass through the set today. Just incredible.
Local FLAC > MP11 > Douk U2 Pro > Schiit Bifrost 2 > Singxer SA-1 > Focal Radiance
@11_Clouds I’ll have to read up on those. I have little experience with iems and
really only have the Olina with the extra filter. They’re my “detail” unit, up there with my DT880/600. Thanks.
I highly recommend checking out a planar for sure, Chris’s HeyDay is the best detail i have in an iem.
@BEST_DJ_HEADPHONES22 Indeed, that was my intent. Good summary.
PS the Mahler festival was broadcasts of earlier performances which were aired during covid as though live (folks could comment along side.) Would love to see more content such as @11_Clouds iem suggestion above and other upcoming concerts and personal experiences of them. Welcome!
@11_Clouds Thanks, will ck that as well. My gear experience is more limited than many here, lol.
@11_Clouds Think you might enjoy this. Good recording (I use AMHD)
How is it with the HeyDay? PS have done some reading, looks like a very interesting iem for my library of classical and female jazz vocals (Tierney Sutton,
Emilie Claire Barlow, etc.)
Vivaldi: Violin Concerto in E-Flat Major, RV 257 - I. Andante molto e quasi allegro - YouTube
listening through AMHD > BTR 5 Balanced volume at 33 in high gain. Has great depth and center image, she’s dead center, Harpsichord is just right of center and behind, the thing i like about planar is the res and separation and i think this does it really well, im doing more testing to night with my wired setup but man this is so nice for a bluetooth portable
great find by the way, added
This album is such a great resolution test, this is the cleanest window I’ve heard

@11_Clouds Wow, stunning clarity, thanks. Some errands to do but will ck this
on my “big rig” when I get back. Do I smell rosin?
lol trust me you will
I’ve been catching up on some iem evals. The Aful Performer looks very interesting for classical as well and is similarly priced. Have you heard it or have an opinion? And, do you still feel the same way about the Heyday? Thanks.
@TimpTim44 i have not heard the Aful, I think in one review they said the soundstage was narrow and at that time i was all in on finding my planar sets, ( I have 5) but yes i still like the Heyday for all things classical and even some electronic that isn’t too mid bass focused or needing a lot of that energy. I really like Planar for that clean window effect, I still use that old Robert Harley adage, i haven’t found that yet in a dynamic but still searching. I’ve been doing more research on earbuds as of late so i think thats a rabbit hole ill be chasing sometime soon, currently happy with my lineup for now though.
@11_Clouds Yes, SS is important for us, especially me because I listen to a lot of full orchestra…symphonies, concertos etc. Thanks. (I am fairly eclectic though and enjoy Some popular music if it’s well done, lol.)
no problem
Live concert today. 1 pm CST. These are always well done with decent audio and great pre-planned camerawork. Also fun to see the live conversations from other parts of the world.
It’s here. It’s finally here. This came from the UK, so it took a little bit to make the trip. But it was very much worth the wait.
It’s a 6-CD set, known as the 1963 cycle, 5 of them cover all 9 symphonies, with the 6th being a pure audio Blu-ray DVD that has all 9 in Hi-res and some rehearsal material. The box is really nice. I really like the overall presentation. The little booklet that comes with is wonderful, with lots of historical photos and such. I have just listened to Symphony No. 1. The sound quality is incredible, especially on the speakers. I am very happy with this set. An amazing addition to the collection.
