Anime discussion thread

Gonna ask you guys here as Anime is not my strong subject, a friend of mine has a 13? year old daughter who loves anime and has started doodling her own stuff, what do you guys reckon on this one and does she have potential as an anime artist?..

pretty nice. quite stylistic. as a hobby, sure. No future in actual animation or print as a professional though because that shit is ultra competitive lol.

Cool thanks for the feed back… she’s still young and only doodles at the mo :+1:

Any other critique’s would also be appreciated

if she gets serious in the future, she’ll want some drawing anatomy books or such, though I wouldn’t worry about it at 13 lol.

Nice style reminds me a lot of new grounds style. Lots of potential. But life of an anime artists is a rough one lots of sacrifices to just make $3.5 a frame.

Thanks buddy I appreciate it  I’m gonna give her some feed back from you guys :+1:

Also the eyes are fairly symmetrical and not afgraid to draw hands is already a good sign the rest comes with practice. Art lessons also help to develop fundamentals as anime covers a ton of art styles.

There is quite alot of money to be made in fan art or commisions for people if you are REALLY GOOD. You can make a fortune but thats more self employed and defo the more profitable place to be in art. Tones of artists that do commisions just gotta build up portfolio ect and draw alot. If she is really interested in drawing she just has to draw ALOT. And yeah anatomy is key. Otherwise anime industry no dont even bother, plus its super hard to get into if you aint japanese. But commisioning and stuff like that sure can be profitable. and yeah it does look good for her age very good.

Wont lie tho mate her art baring background as I guess that has been added in post? Is better than probably 70% of what most people can do and its not just sketched from an img which is the best way to learn. Just tell her to keep at it and I can tell she will be good. Just not to lose interest as its a big thing and if she learns it at school just to know she most likely wont be able to learn anime straight away. I do a bit of art as a hobby I know others that do it for jobs and I cant draw people for shit but shading is good. So loads of shit for her to learn about

Really not bad for a 13 year old at all haha. She use mouse or got a graphics tablet as if not she will probably want one for pc makes a world of a difference. Can get real solid ones for like £40. Als to watch videos online about anatomy as others have said and shading. Loads of great youtubers online that can help.

Bruh she’s improving faster than I ever did when I used to doodle lol. Now I just forget about everything and drown myself in music. :^)

yep not bbad at all much better hair work as well and it seems she has developed her own style with the oversized eyes again reminds me a lot of the stuff I used to watch on newgrounds… which I developed to get good at anime. instead I went a different art direction when I was a kid lol but I also wish I kept doing art I lost basically all my art skills lol. seeing her work makes me want to buy myself a drawing tablet and get back into art but this time digitally. only if I didnt spend all my money on anime lol

If this ain’t the truth. Last time I sketched on a whim, I was surprised at how much I did retain after 2 years. Still, was really rusty lol.

Im a very prefectionist artist when I do a artstyle as clean or lacking in imperfections as anime. I can still draw the odd artstyles I treid to adopt that half developed myself when I was super interested in north american indigenous art and I can still draw birds albeit still rough on both ends but anime is so wonky cause it;s so hard to recover from a asymmetrical feature on the face or body or a lack of proper proper proportions lead to very messy art and eraser marks for me

I still do bits now and again but I cant do people for shite. Got a graphics tablet to do it but I gotta be in the mood and if im not in the mood it aint happening. Sometimes ill draw something and just wipe it over and over again cos im too much like that. Want it to be perfect, it aint i wipe it. Have done some stuff im quite happy with tho.

You can make a decent living with patreon if you get a sizable following with artwork/animation/etc. I would probably recommend that over trying to make it in the industry. I follow some people on twitter that post there and on pixiv and they make a decent living with patreon and selling commissions for stuff.

For 13 years old though, that looks pretty amazing. Extremely stylish and personified characters with unique design elements - I’d be interested in seeing more!

Dude, big news imo! The Devil is a Part-Timer! is getting a season 2. I’m so happy, I just watched it a couple of years ago and almost immediately gave up on a season 2 like a year after, imagine waiting since 2016 to see season 2.
