While I didnt have the same attachment to the characters, I can say that I did like the GGO spinoff as well since it gives you a more boots on the ground feel and not some superhero power trip. Both are good and ultimately I’m that guy that seems to like that universe despite the drawbacks LOL
I believe Accel world is also part of that universe an anime that wasn’t as bad. But wasn’t great either. I also have my biases towards ggo spinoff cause it’s written by the same guy who wrote kinos journey which is one of my favorites.
ngl even the shittiest of anime can be fun if u watch them right. Like I watched this really crap anime like story crap, animation crap. Whole of it was CRAP. But it was a blast as I was drunk while I watched it xD. And just made fun of it the whole time. But I like things most dont anyway and same way round. But thats why I like talking bout it lol.
Best thing I’ve ever seen in my life is Rurouni Kenshin - Samurai X: Trust and Betrayal (OVA).
Also, Death Note. Princess Mononoke is great too.
And Ergo Proxy was weird, but… I need to watch it again.
Bruh ergo proxy is hardcore under rated or just kinda too obscure so not many who have gotten into anime somewhat recently have seen it. and is indeed weird . But is one of the best future sci-fi series
And I need to watch some Gundam but where the hell do I start lol.
Dont worry about it. Just watch the ones that are well rated like iron blooded orphans. Order a few sets and watch while building gundams
Downloading the “compilation movies” right now for the oldies. We’ll see!
Funny thing is, I already bought two 1:144 gundams lol. I just really like robots.
SAO as a whole series is not that good. I love Aincrad arc but after that…
However, Alicization is a whole different thing. While I like Aincrad arce, Alicization makes me respect the writer. The literary value is so high. You can see tons of metaphors and other literary arrays. It’s more suitable for adult audience.
I haven’t watch GGO spinoff but seriously, I don’t think it would be better than Alicization in my eyes.
Honestly Mecha is hit and miss for me, but I did enjoy Darling as a recent one smh very Eva in the foreplay
Done by a completely different writer who actually knows how build characters
The one series I must get into is Monogatari series is so highly praised its insane but actually starting it and getting to watch it is a goal in of itself. XD
Monogatari has an interesting art direction when I first saw it but then as they kept pumping out new series, I got bored and went for the audio book series instead.
I didn’t read the whole thread but I don’t see anyone mention Fate Zero. I’m pretty sure I watched this like more than 4 times already If you like an endless train wreck, this is the series to watch.
for this season its definitely one of the best. for me this season kakushigoto is my personal favorite another slice of life. i would really recc people watch it so many have sidelined it which is an absolute shame.
I’m not an anime enthusiast. Nothing against it in any way, just not something I’ve found myself gravitating to over the years. Having said that….
Back in 2008 Ars Technica put the Manglobe series Ergo Proxy in their holiday gift guide. On a lark, I threw it on my Christmas list that year. Ummm….wow! I’ve watched the complete series at least four times since then. I’m just wondering if any of you full-fledged anime enthusiasts have seen it and what you thought of it.
Its on my list per my other anime friends, I am bad about not watching any programming during this pandemic as I need to be on gaming with friends as much as possible
Interesting, but apparently it’s a sequel to Fate Stay Night. So I’ll start with that… in my list.
Well if you’ve read Alicization, Eugeo’s character development is very good. Also Kirito has got nerfed quite a bit.
You can watch the original Fate Stay Night as it laid down the foundation for the prequel Fate Zero however, the original is highly criticized series because various quality issues. Fate Zero quality is like night and day compared to the original. I still enjoyed the original though. It’s a useful point of entry to the franchise.
On of the best sci fi anime tackling post apocalyptic and android /human relationships themes. If not the only anime that does both well
