When the OP is the same quality of the actual show and the OP is fucking amazing. Worth a watch it uses CGI not because they are lazy but because they are testing limits and actually trying to make it work. And yes anime is really getting to look really good but, this is still the best by far.
OP to not spoil the show as I was gonna post a video of why the visuals are stunning but may spoil.
Unfortunately I’m a bit of a purist in the sense of preferring 2d animation in anime with well implemented cg . Pure 3d anime kinda throws me off but I have watched some like as you mentioned houseki no Kuni , ajin, land of the loustrous and knights of sidonia which I actually quite enjoyed but has never been technically very impressive to me even with the art style. Something really messed with me I believe it’s the higher frame rate. Well implemented cg to me is much more impressive stuff like with the gate series or with violet evergarden why I love it so much is the awesome use of cg with hand animation.
I wouldn’t call 3d lazy though but living in the west being exposed some insane 3d work Japan just feels super behind in that respect. I’m sure giving it a couple of more years they will have developed their own style completely cause right now it still feels like they are trying to figure out how to use 3d effectively
Yeah i agree honestly I dont mind the use of 3D in anime as long as its done right other wise it puts me off as u said. I Really enjoyed Houseki no kuni as u can probably tell haha. I also really liked Violet evergarden and the movie of no game no life zero, that was just aesthecically pleasing.
I don’t watch a ton of anime but have been a casual fan off and on since the late 80’s but in recent memory two series really stand out to me:
Paranoia Agent:
I’m not an expert on anime so what genre is this? Not sure but it’s kind of a mystery / surreal sort of feeling to it. One episode in particular really stands out for having to do with mental illness and suicide.
The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya:
For some reason this one really stood out in my mind and even years after watching the series I still find myself thinking about it. There’s a subplot that occurs in the second season that spans eight episodes that are almost painful to watch because of how repetitive it becomes / think groundhog day. The show really expects the viewer to suffer in some way or another which I think in some way helps you empathize with one of the supporting characters. Hard to describe but I hated it and loved it at the same time.
They both sound quite interesting and not heard of them before. So maybe a watch for me but then again my to watch list is too big as is.
There is quite a few that deal with this and some less out in the open and others way more in the open. One especially is Seven deadly sins which looks like an action anime but is legit about mental health and if u look at it in a deep way u realise this and its quite sad.
Haruhi suzumiya is one of those every anime fan must watch shows a good peek into the anime culture world of the mid 2010s . The second season sub plot is one of the most revisited and discussed as well as the most skipped episodes in anime ever. It’s was both painful to sit though but looking back was a risk and one of the more original things that has happened.
Honestly I dont understand why Media has to be censored. Stuff like it happens IRL so why not in media? As long as it has an age rating.
Best anime movie of that year over shadowed by your name. So fucking good. Cried like a bb
I watched the dub version first for free on vimeo. Good enough that I went back and grabbed it in HD on amazon. Rewatching with CC now.
I don’t think I’ve ever identified with a movie more 0_0. Hits you right in the feels.
Also that soundtrack though.
I am but a base lay person. I like NHK, Cowboy Bebop, Tokyo Ghoul, Akame Ga Kill, Erased as prob my favorites(forgot golden time- “tada banri”), I’ve watched alot I like tho. Movies is dominated by mainstream studio Ghibli and some of the recents such as a Silent Voice and Your name(Akira is cool and all except for the amorphous blob killing your friends bit). Always looking for new stuff and while I’m largely done with the “other life” genre I really liked grimgar and am more into slice of life atm.
Haha, Isekai spam is getting to everyone I see.
Have you watched “Sing ‘Yesterday’ To Me” yet? Is actually my favorite anime of all the one’s I’ve watched (is slice of life as far as I can see). Crunchyroll has it if you’re wondering.
Screenshotted and will be looking it up later, thanks! smh and I forgot the term much appreciated!
I’m a sucker for esekai so I’m pretty ok with this really trashy era of anime
Like some are, really good, but others are low effort. Like the most trashy for me that I like are sword art and shield hero. I know some have an issue with post mid first season sword art, but I just consider they had a mental break so it’s all good. I’ll even say I like danmachi, but the LNs for both shield and danmachi started feeling like filler trash so they are a peg lower in my eyes atm.
How can u not like generic Isekai trash. Some are really good, also its funny that people think isekai is a new thing when really it aint. Ive watch the OG isekai anime and it had like 4 seasons, which is called Zero no Tsukaima. Was pretty decent and tbh the first Isekai im pretty sure. I like it but some I hate some I love it all depends on the premise and generally with this genre the Manga is much better.
Ngl I liked SAO but the GGO arc not the new GGO season just the GGO arc with Sinon in. I thought it was much better than regular still bad but more fun imo. But aparently the new SAO Alicasation is really fucking good. But I shall see.
My favorite esekei is probably the devil is a part timer!. Also new ggo is the best thing to come out of that franchise it just needed a whole new writer to get good.
