Are you Ricky Booby? The F1 topic

I don’t see Honda staying for any reason. They fast forwarded their 2022 engine to this season specifically because they want a shot at the championship before they bugger off.

OHHH MYYYY. That race was amazing. Everything we’ve been wanting, although the stewarts are so lame in enforcing the track limit.

Insane race, Red Bull’s race to lose, tire advantage, the fastest car around the circuit and still Hamilton pulled off what IMO was one of the best defensive races of his career. It’s going to be a slugfest of a season.

Maze-Spin sucks ballz.

Boy, Perez is doing so much going back and forth. TBH, merc and redbull’s strategy was a little bit questionable for their second drivers, but it was amazing nonetheless. I’m kinda sad to see what vettel had become. Hopefully this is only a one time thing, although I have to say that it’s quite generous to say that.

And YUKI!!! Really happy to see him perform so well.

These stewards are dodgy AF. Ignoring turn 4 for 32 laps until Red Bull throws out a boardradio to ignore the line like the Mercs are doing and suddenly no one is allowed to cross the line anymore… Great job by Lewis, but in my eyes the victory is not deserved tbh. I do like that people in the Netherlands who have been yelling that, basically, Lewis is a shit driver and only wins because his car is good an Bottas is even worse now have been shut up.
Let’s hope RB can get even closer when Perez shows up in the top 4 and make this a banging season.

Yea dude. It feels like they always favour Lewis, even in the previous season. I was kinda hoping that they would penalize the people who have been abusing the track limit, but oh well it is what it is. Maybe it’s also Lewis’ hidden power to exploit those shady advantages.

Sure, but I really wonder what would’ve happened if it were the other way around and it was Verstappen who had been abusing the corner. Apparently Lewis did it 29 times, winning about 0.2 seconds each time; that comes down to almost 6 seconds in total. It’s kinda ridiculous that he hasn’t gotten as much as a warning.
I would be fucking outraged if I were RB, I’m surprised that they are staying so calm.

It was an enjoyable race, barring the controversy. It felt like cars were a lot closer to each other bar the top two teams.

I think there is an easy solution to “track limits” … a wide strip of grass/“astro turf” after the curbs should make it hard to gain by exploiting the track limits, and the problem should go away…

I do think it could be handled a lot better in todays race though. Lewis should have gotten a warning after a few laps, but i thought it was a good jab to Merc by RB with their radio message instructing Verstappen to exploit the track limits

BTW, todays race was quite good, but the MotoGP race was even better. Close racing and high tension until the finish line.

Tsunoda had a good race, for his first race and getting ninth in the Alphatauri. He will be one to watch in the future.

If Mazepin continues like that he might not last the season.

The one consistent thing about the stewards is their inconsistency. Maybe if Red Bull had stayed quiet? Or maybe if Max had paid attention during the driver’s meetings? Here’s Leclerc confirming what was apparently common knowledge to all BUT Red Bull… https://youtu.be/J2I0VFBYbYA?t=291

Yeah but the weird thing is that both Red Bull and the reporter I was listening to did think you weren’t supposed to do that, and that if you’d do it a couple of times you’d get a warning and then a penalty. The reporter even said so before the race. And as soon as red bull said: “well let’s just use that as well then”, that’s when they decide that suddenly it’s no longer OK? What really bugs me as well is that there hasn’t been an official response to this AFAIK.

This    I wonder how many fuck ups it’s going to take before his loses interest and pulls his rubles.

Cool race and well worth the hype. Hopefully the competition (both at the front and midpack) continues all season.

I think Vettel is washed up  Bottas is useless (we knew this 2 seasons ago) but he’s JUST useful enough to give Merc constructors titles while not messing with Lewis.

Can’t wait for Cheko to start in the top 2 rows and throw another variable in the title fight.

Breakdown of the last few laps.

Meh. I lost interest in F1 a while ago. To me MotoGP is much more compelling.

Where does one watch MotoGP these days?

I think you can buy “pay to view” at motogp.com. Not sure who has the tv rights around the world, but in the Nordic countries its Viasat/Viaplay that airs MotoGP.

I have the subscription, of course. But out here on the West coast They have been broadcasting the races on MSNBCSN, or their sports network. However, that network is being shut down after this season, so not sure where they will go.

Last year was epic. As unfortunate as it was that Mark Marquez had to sit out it opened the door to some of the best racing I have seen in many years.

For the record, let me clear that I am not bashing F1 at all. For various reasons, I have simply lost interest. I find it boring. There is very little competition over there anymore, and races are still pretty much a three hour parade lap. And the new cars just aren’t doing it for me. The point that drove this home for me was last year when Alonso broke out one of his old cars and did a few laps. Everything just stopped. Everyone was in awe! Hamilton was in the middle of an interview and just stopped and took it all in. The look on his face said it all. THAT is when Formula One was Formula One. But that is just me.
