Ath r70x vs takstar HF580

what should i get? r70x or hf580(planar)? now i using m40x with ifi zen dac
and is ifi zen dac enough for r70x?

thank you

These are pretty different imo, what type of sound signature are you going for, and what do you listen to? Also what do you like about the m40x, and what would you want to change?

i like clear-balance sound and mid bit forward and i dont like too much bass(enough is ok). i mostly listen to female vocal like kpop-iu (with ifi zen dac truebass turn off) ,but sometimes listen to new western pop, k-pop and edm (but i very rare listen to edm songs) (and with ifi zen dac truebass turn on) like lauv, ariana, taylor swift, justin bieber, westlife, etc. (famous singers).

things i like from m40x (with earpad change to brainwavz angled sheepskin) is the clear, balance sound, and bit sound stage. but i want to try open back for more sound stage with sound signature like m40x (if can) or better.

sorry for late reply and my bad english.

thank you

Price: r70x = 204 usd
hf580 = 238 usd

Hmmm, the hf580 is alright but imo not something I would recommend due to its flaws, the r70x is good but might sound a tad unexciting for more pop, and also might need a more powerful amp than the zen dac

Where are you located and what budget are you thinking?

i located in indonesia. my budget is around 3.000.000 IDR(204 usd) - 3.500.000 IDR(238 usd).

thank you

or should i buy cheap amp for r70x? actually i bit intrested with r70x because zeos. what r70x sound signature?

It’s pretty neutral, good timbre, sounds very natural. Not the widest in soundstage but very open and accurate at placing instruments. A bit more laid back but can be aggressive from time to time. Studio oriented sound.

If you could find a fiio k5 pro that would power it nicely? Or a schiit magni 3+ would work well.

Something else to consider actually might be the beyerdynamic dt880 600 ohm if you can find one, and getting an amp like the monolith liquid spark would work nicely for it, that does also sound up your alley. It will be brighter and wider than the r70x, a bit more exciting sound, more spacious, but less natural than the r70x

i can’t find dt880 in my country, but i can find fiio k5 pro, but i just buy ifi zen dac last month when fiio k5 sold out. but now they just restock. :frowning:

the reason i buy ifi zen because i ask on other forum(before i know this forum) and some people say ifi zen dac more mid forward. but k5 pro sound thin but clear.

or ad500x? because other ad-x series not avaible in my country
and what is maximum ohm that ifi zen dac can drive?

The Zen dac is more warm, and a nice product, but it would be risky to power the r70x off of, on quieter tracks you might run out of power. But this being said, if you were able to get a balanced cable for the r70x, it might be doable and you might be able to power it

That doesn’t sound up your alley imo, fairly thin and bright, more bass light, and pretty intimate imo

These are great but may require some modding. You might want to consider the new Harmonic Dyne Helios. I think it has the sound your looking for and they sound fatastic! punch way above thier price like the takstar. only 179$:

Imo the takstar didn’t really ouch above it’s price from my experience, it was nice but had a fair amount of issues, and modding was not easy

really?! i thought it would have with the Aiva driver on it and being only 200$

It did share the aiva driver, but just having the same driver didn’t make it sound the same. It had good detail, but not the best tuning and it had some issues with other technicalities as well. Also it had different pads than the aiva too, and different build. Swapping the pads to the aiva pads did improve them a bit, but they still don’t sound that close to aivas or the other clones like the sivga or blon imo

I feel regrate to buy ifi zen dac because the price not much different from k5 pro and have much more power. And balanced cable is hard to find in my country. What max impedance that ifi zen dac can drive??

Thank you.

I would say it can drive around 300 ohms. I do think that the r70x could be driven though if needed, but I just think a more powerful amp would drive it better

I found someone selling balance cable for r70x, occ copper litz 24 awg 4 braided 68 usd and occ copper litz 28 awg 8 braided 101 usd.
Should i get r70x with balanced cable(but i still confuse with litz or without litz?) Or sennheiser hd6xx with stock cable?

Edit: someone sell r70x cable balanced very cheap 8 braided spc(i think its cheap cable) just 35 dollar. Shoul i get this?

Is it 4.4mm to connect to the zen dac?

if you can afford the extre $100 for a balanced cable I would just go for a stack that has more power than the zen dac or k5 pro

dont feel bad at all my man, the ifi has a much better dac, even if less horsepower on the amp side. you can also look into the cheap chifi amps from nobosound, the ones designed as speaker amps, with a headphone jack on the front. they tend to be cheaper then the pure headphone amps for some reason. and they have plenty of juice from my experience(cant find any listed material). but i can drive my t60rp argons off of them to pretty good result and more then loud enough.

just a thought to add some cheap amp’s to your dac.

edit: i just got a zen dac and i am loving it. i have it hooked up to a lyr 3 and bottlehead crack. its a fine dac and i would highly suggest not getting rid of it. the amp is more for run of the mill headphones. its designed to be an AIO for sensitive balanced things, like IEM’s, and a dac for everything else.

edit2: nobosound has A LOT of brands under their name.

@M0N yes, is it good enough?
@RiceGuru sorry, what is stack meaning?
@joshua_g thank you for your cheers and input  maybe i should save up get amp and after that get good cans. and i cant find nobosound(even the reberand one) in my county. but i find this " FX-AUDIO TUBE-03" dont know is it good or not. haha

I would say so yes
