First step into the world of Audeze moddingā¦
So i did an attempt to put different pads on my LCD2C. Saw someone selling ZMF Eikon Suede pads and bought them. I thought they would be the same size and fit the 2C. I found out, they are smaller but i tried to get them on there nonetheless. Not the prettiest job, i admit
I wanted to try them because i often get this underwater feeling while wearing my LCD2C. Since i have decided that i want to keep them, i want to fix this issue.
The Suede pads da pretty good job on that, even tho they dont fit perfect. They are super comfortable and dont give me the underwater feeling. Don“t know if there are any noticeable sound changes that i can hear, since i can“t do a quick A/B test. I have already adjusted to it and it sounds fine. But it looks bad with the glue tape sticking out on the sides.
I“ve seen dekoni sells suede pads aswell, are they any good? Or other ZMF Pads that fit them perfectly(@Martin_Soo) - you have auteuer pads, they seem to fit very well.
Dekoni is easier to get for me in germany i guess. I think i can order dekoni from the UK and ZMF would be an US import which would get it to be very expensive i believe ( and i would have to wait very long)
I do personally like the Dekoni suedes, but havenāt tried them on LCD-2C, only LCD-2 Fazor. They tend to make the signature a little more relaxed and warm, which the LCD-2C already is so it may take it too far in that direction depending on preference.
Trust me, go for Auteur Perforated Suedeā¦they have the largest cavity among all pads is the world but not the deepestā¦still audeze stocks are deepestā¦but the comfort and sound is nothing like itā¦best .and thank me later. hehe
Im just researching the ZMF Auteuer pads. I see that they have the same diameter as the Eikon pads that i have bought. IĀ“m searching for a place to buy them in europe but i have question. They seem to fit perfectly on your pics above. How did you attach them so perfectly fitting? How is that possible if the pad is smaller? It looks like crap in my own attempt ā¦
They are not the same cavity size. Auteur have the largest cavity. But same diameter. Yes. Well⦠they have the same pads diameter of Audeze. So they fit seamlessly. I requested the PSA Ring from Audeze. They have strong adhesive which also use on their stock pads. Is crazy expensive to buy a sheet and cut to rings, and since Audeze happily give free⦠why not. Seems like your eikon pads is oval. Hmmm⦠weird angle from photo. But no worries. Trust me larger cavity give you much more breathable and airy high end sound. More room more spacious sounding. Dekoni have small cavity ofcoz they are more deep in comparison to ZMF. Because our drivers are large⦠you wouldnāt want to block the output of the sound by the small cavity. Get the Auteur Perforated Suede. Perforated mustā¦
Okay thank you. I just measured my pads and they are definetly 1cm smaller than advertised at ZMFs website. Maybe im measuring wrong. Maybe there was another revision of pads that were smaller or the ones ive gotten from the guy werent Eikon pads. Eikon and Auteur Pads should be the same diameter.
I believe the Oris are a smaller diameter.
Just looked it up on the zmf site and you are right. They are smaller. Maybe ive gotten Ori Pads instead of Eikons.
Thatās should be the issue then. Get a new one then.
Not the easiest task since im in germany. Takes weeks and is expensive here but it is the only way I guess. Found a seller in europe but they donāt sell the perforated suedes, only the suedes
You canāt get them directly from ZMF? They donāt send to Germany? Iām in Malaysia and they send though.
For sure I can, but would have been easier to find them somewhere in Europe so I donāt have to pay extra 30-40 bucks for customs and taxes
Would the LCD2 Classic be a good pairing with Schiit Modius/Asgard 3?
Disclaimer: I havenāt heard the pairing. However, the Asgard is one of those amps that just about everything sounds good on. Very hard to imagine this would go poorly.
Hello,
It is done the Denon Ah D7200 will go.
He could not keep up with the Fostex mod or my own Denon D2000 mod from me.
I once ordered the Lcd 2 Classic and I am curious how it does.
I read totally different opinions about the headphones, why is that?
Even tests are a bit strange to read, while some love it, others donāt like it at all.
Why is that?
It is also compared to the Sundara, why?
Some people thought the bass was the best thing about the Lcd 2 C.
I had the He4 xx and was totally disappointed with it and thought if you ever get something like that it should be an Audeze Lcd2 or a Dan clark Aeon2.
My setup is the Singxer Sda 2 C, if I like it I will convert the cable to XLR connectors, would that be okay?
I also listened to Zeoās sound demo and thought it was not bad even though the video is 2 years old again and his setup has changed again.
I have recently myself been considering options that include some of the gear you have mentioned and Iāve found at least one of your observations helpful in making a decision that Iāve been debating over the weekend.
I share your curiosity of the LCD-2C, and also the confusion on the differing opinions but, those may be just down to personal tastes and the uniqueness of our own individual biological make up i.e., all ears are not the same.
I am interested in your saga with the LCD-2C and hope that you continue to update with your perceptions, once it arrives.
Hello,
Year i will try it .
I finally got my LCD-2 Classicās today!
Very nice looking, pretty heavy and included cable is nice.
I have been looking at picking these up for at least a year. On my first day I am feeling very satisfied. Of course it is still a shiny new toy.
I am starting off with Florence and the Machine as I know her stuff so well. Also, she runs a little mini-orchestra so it is a good test for vocals, bass, keyboards, etc.
I am running my DAP to DAC to Violectric V220 amp. These are Very easy to run and I am running the gain at -6Dbās. And I still canāt go past 11:00, although that would likely change with older music.
The vocals are beautiful and in no way recessed. The drums are hitting nice and strong. Keyboards, backing vocals and horns also sound very clear.
I am just going to run them stock for a few days. I have a Schiit Loki wired in the SE ports in the V220 and will try the EQād feed in a few days.
I am currently waiting on a cable package from HAC which will allow me to plug these into the Liquid Platinum. Should be here within a week or two.
Should also mention Wow, these pads are fat! And also very comfortable.
On day 1, I am loving everything! Of course they all start off great.
Just changed the feed for a minute to try out the Loki: Hmmmmm.
