He has also advised me on my 2020 buying spree. Two things stand out:

  1. I had no plans to spend thousands of dollars this year, but it just kind of got out of control. :grin:
    But I am well under $8K for 2020.

  2. Every purchase was a home run! I have been researching, gathering data and asking for advice for more than five years. Most of that advice was shit, in my case.

I have a HUGE list of previous gear sold at a loss. It wasnā€™t all junk, but it was not a fit for me.

@MON has like a pyschic ability to perfectly match you with the gear you need and want. I have never seen anything like it. VERY impressive! :+1: :grin:

I have a question. If the fazors tend to change the sound signature so much, why didnā€™t Audeze make the fazor versions seperate new models along side the non-favor versions, or at least make the fazor optional?

Also, can the fazor be removed from the new LCD 2f?

I think the lcd-2 classic is supposed to be the non fazor lcd-2 but from all accounts it sounds different from the OG pre fazorsā€¦ as for other models :man_shrugging:

I donā€™t know or ever dealt with the seller and $650 is pretty pricey. I just saw it while perusing the used forums. Pads are fenestrated, so it looks third party. Iā€™m sure anyone whoā€™s interested has plenty of questions to ask.

The LCD-3 PF is amazing. It is basically a LCD-2PF but better in every way.

Rosewood is good and stable unfinished. Just a little conditioner and not letting them sit in too dry or too humid enviroments will have them last for years

Thatā€™s what Iā€™ve been doing, my LCD-2 rev. 1 rosewood (2011) is doing fine. It stays in its box when not being used. However, one cannot discount the complaints that Audeze received back in the in day that caused them to change to something more hardy like bamboo or start applying finishes to their woods.

Never underestimate people not understanding or being ignorant of basic care. In the guitar shop people had instruments that cost as much as a new car but every winter they would bring them in in droves as they didnt hydrate and spilt their tops.
The rosewood wouldnt split but it would contract and frets got loose. The rosewood just needed a drop or two of oil for the whole board once ever 3-6 months depending on abuse.

I personally donā€™t take care of the wood on my things. I just char them and they never need to be taken care of.

Spent some time over two days listening to the focal clear and now some time listening to the lcd 2 prefazor.

So far the lcd2 is getting outclassed, only have tried the vegan pads though.

The clears (which I also got very recently so is the only other headphone I am giving head time) sound fuller from memory which I wasnā€™t expecting. Also the soundstage, clarity, and overall refinement/resolution seems significantly betterā€¦

When I put the edition x v2 back on my head, I think I will have a similar preference for that over the lcd2 as well.

Maybe lcd3 prefazor would be more of the same tier and fairer comparisonā€¦?
