LCD-2C then? I doubt any shop would keep a rev 1 pair lying around. If it is the LCD-2C, then it isnāt the same sound from the pre-fazors but still quite nice.
Itās def not the LCD2C. This one is wooden with the microsuede pads and headband. I checked inside the cups for the ātriangle tipsā and nopeā¦ definitely non fazor. I forgot to check the serial number tho . It was warm, full, smooth and has a wonderful low end.
Yup, sounds like one of the pre-fazors. Surprised that a shop had one available for auditioning. Lucky you! You could ask them if they are selling the demo unit.
If the headband is the one with a bit of foam in the middle and is stock to the can, then that is likely a rev. 1. If the stock headband is the bumpy leather cushion, then it is likely a rev. 2. The early production run of the rev. 2 still sported the wood-surrounded connectors, a site that was prone to cracking hence the metal/heavy plastic connectors that replaced it in later rev. 2ās and other LCD cans.
This one has the bumpy headband covered in microsuede. The connectors themselves are the angled black ones instead of wood
From the sound of it, itās a 2.2 PRE fazor vegan. Thatās why the headband and pads are suede.
So I just called the sales rep at the store, he confirmed that the serial number starts with 54 which means it should have fazors according to Audezeā¦ I definitely did not feel any sharpness or triangle-tip-like things inside the cups so Iām hella perplexed
I have a prefazor and it is definitely a preā¦ yet the serial starts with 569ā¦Go figure
They should bring the vegans back, damnit. When I saw the non-leather option pad, I suddenly became hopeful until Audeze support mentioned that it was protein leather. Drats.
If itās an early model then that makes sense.
Well, Iām still on the hunt for a 2.2 pre fazor. I guess itās a good sign that people want to keep them
At the moment, my favoriteā¦I have the Aeon 2, The Elex, OG Nighthawks, E-Mu teaks etcā¦ There is something special to me about these.
Iāve been searching high and low for them. I listened to the LCD X, LCD-3, even a Focal Clear. I found out that I much prefer the warmer sound signature of the LCD-2s. My 650ās already covered the mixing reference part of my work but the LCD-2ās are so fun.
Yesā¦ It took months for me to findā¦ Patience and they will pop upā¦
I actually found a pair and the sale is pending
Now Iāll have to find a good budget OTC/Hybrid amp to give me that sweet 1-4W at 70 ohm.
Garage1217 Project Ember seems to be the top candidate right now, though I am considering running an OTL as a preamp into my JDS atom to get that tube sound idk
I mostly run mine balanced out of my Liquid platinum amp, occasionally SE out of my Asgard3ā¦ Both amps are awesome with this headphone
I had the same experience. Went to demo some stuff, and tried LCD-2, LCD-3, LCD-4, Utopiaā¦kept going back to the LCD-2. And now I have the LCD-24, which is somewhat of a hybrid of the LCD-2 pre signature with technicalities closer to the LCD-4.
This sounds pretty amazing is it lighter weight by chance? Than the lcd-2 pre faz?
Do you think the Massdrop Cavalli Tube Hybrid can adequately power the LCD-2? Says it can do 1W per channel at 50 ohm.
Iām looking for a hybrid under $300 that can bring out the LCDās full potential so
I would think so with no problem at allā¦ Others may jump inā¦Liquid plat is a cavalli design I believe
Yes, they are lighter than the LCD 2F, 3, and 4, using the carbon fiber headband and magnesium frame/cups, but are similar to the LCD-2 Pre. Per specs, 540g for the 24 vs Pre-fazor 2 coming in between 225g-250g depending on wood, I believe.
