You kinda have to push them until they click in pretty hard, but personally I generally prefer the suede
Are you looking at the exposed wood? The cups are liquid wood (itās like wood mixed with glue and then finished or something) and thatās nothing to worry about
Oh itās wood! Okay, Iām just being silly then. It was a little rough so I was worried. Thanks.
Yeah when I first saw the Hawks I was also surprised to see that it was wood lol
Yep! Itās liquid wood. Pretty neat. Mine actually is chipping some. Not super noticeable, but I am very gentle with them now and keep them at home.
Glad you like them! The suede pads just have better bass impact and make them more unique.
I switched to the Fantasia M1060 cable for my Nighthawks, because I wanted more length and to go balanced. The M1060 is fairly stiff and a little unwieldy in my experience. YMMV of course.
Decided to order a Hart Audio HC-7 along with some 3.5mm TRS and 4.4mm TRRS interchangeable connectors instead.
I now see you probably meant theseā¦
And I was thinking of theseā¦
Yeah I was talking about the normal cable not the balanced one.
I might get that replacement cable tbhā¦ itās much cheaper than the other ones Iāve found and after having the Nighthawks now like like 2-3 months the cable is really starting to get on my nerves
Audio quest Nighthawk (Carbon review)
So, Iāve now spent 2 days short of a month since I first got these. I will make this short and sweet since Iām sleepy lol. But when I first got them they sounded not muddy or muffled per say but definetly not right haha, almost like a melted wax figure. And the bass was lackluster (keep in mind I was running it on my phone), not only that but the presentation made it feel like there was maybe a weak boom box or speaker in front of me. Got used to the sound a day later tho, and enjoyed it even on the phone. But it didnāt open up till I got an amp for it. The bass on this thing is no fucking joke, digs deep even a friend of mine who doesnāt listen to gear and stuff basically worded out when she tried them that the bass dug real deep (on the song Iām not the only one- Sam smith). not only that but the Soundstage really became massive and very layered, reminds me of the concerts I attended of the artists that I was listening to on the hawks. The actual sound is very rich, full and the spatial presentation is so good and stands out that my brother heard echoes that heās never heard on his music before using IEMs. The stand out feature is the presentation without a doubt, itās crazy how much these remind me of my speakers in every way. The sound at lower volumes is incredibly chill but becomes more immersivd and upbeat at higher volumes just like when using my speakers. I get the refinement of my micca rb42 (and depending on room treatment even more) but also sounds more personal than the rb42. Just amazing headphones with crazy refinement that I never knew existed. The timbre is amazing, refinement is crazy good and the vocals are very engaging. There is literally nothing bad I can say sound signature wise about this headphones if you are able to get used to sound which at first can make everything seem decibels lower haha. 10/10 sound. comfort is pretty top notch, still prefer the ksc 75 for comfort.
Long story short: Intimate/incredibly life-like vocals with great timbre
Super interesting speaker-esque presentation
Deep bass
Sidenote: I do enjoy everything on them. even pop but I will admit that in particular Iāve been enjoying hip hop, indie and ballads on these the most
PSA tho: I knew that they leak alot but maybe more than expected as my brother complained about the noise from a room away. Not too far but still lol. So they close sound from the outside well but bring it to ur neighbors well
Careful that youāre not cranking them too loud! Preserve that hearing!!
Haha no no I swear Iām not. But I do believe these r better at slightly louder volumes so who knows lol
Glad youāre liking them so muchā¦ the nh carbon + xd05+ pairing is oh so nice
Yeah they r quite the joy once you take time to really learn them. If I had to choose between all my prior headphones and even my micca rb42 I would choose these. They just align with my music pretty perfectly and are more refined. And the presentation is the key
Oh yeah and in particular the xduoo plus is what really brought them to full potential imo
Thatās good. I used to turn up the sound pretty high on my K7XXs when I first got them. Like I was trying to use volume level as an equalizer and increase the bass. Too loud. Took me a while to appreciate them at a level that was reasonable and realize the sound signature was way more laid back than I thought. Glad you are digging the Nighthawks. The Nighthawk gang is strong!
Yeah I remember you mentioning that story lol. Guess most people have been there haha. Louder = better to most of my cavemen brethren lol. But I swear in the hawks it makes a difference! Lol. And yeahhhhhhh Nighthawk gang gang!
