I agree. They look much better in person. I bet the spring at the top is what keeps them back from looking better because looking at the cups they are pretty dang gorgeous imo
I have the opportunity to get a used ifi Micro iDac2 (silver, not BL) at a decent price. Will I be losing out on much if I choose that over the Xd05+?
If itās cheaper than the xduoo then go for it.
Biggest thing it looks like youād be missing is the power of the XD05+. DAC quality is likely better, perhaps slightly warmer in the ifi with the Burr Brown chip, but the XD05+ has close to 3x the power to drive any higher impedence or lower sensitivity cans you may have. XD05+ would also be more portable.
The idac2 wonāt power headphones, it needs to be the idsd otherwise get the xduoo

Nowhere near the same power. I would only recommend getting an ifi unit if you can get the ifi Micro IDSD silver, or even better, Black Label. More power than the 05+ and a lot more connection options.

The ifi Hip DAC could also be an option if power isnāt a concern.
The hip dac would be nice balanced but imo that might be borderline too warm

Seconding M0N here. Definitely donāt go over 400, and I would be hesitant to go over 300 if they arenāt brand new tbh.

Iām jumping in between these or Argon Mk3 both have sound signatures I feel I would enjoy. (from what I hear) For under 300 new would you go with the Nighthawks over the argon Mk3 for fun listening? Any thoughts or are the two just completely far apart in the sound signature?

My only amp at the moment is the Smsl Sp200 Thx. Iām still learning and like to try different sounding thingsā¦ letās simply say unique. Right now I mainly jump between my HD6xx and my Ikko OH10. Iām looking for comfort and not reference. Idk if this helps any. I am looking for more bass than my HD6xx.

Hmmm, then the nighthawks are my pick then imo, I think they are a fair bit more unique than the argons. TBH the only reason I still have my argons is because I waited so long for them and would feel bad if I sold them after I waited so long lol. I would only say the argons if you wanted more bass quantity over anything, and personally if you wanted that I would just look at a x00 purpleheart instead tbh
