šŸ”¶ Audioquest NightHawk

I mean both are wood, but they are just different colors lol

The only concern I have is when it comes to replacing the pads due to wear and tear. I understand they use proprietary pads which will make it darn difficult to replace them. Has anyone found a solution to this?

hmmmmm. well, they come with two pads. so when one is too old and messed up, you can switch to the other one lol

honestly tho, i wouldnā€™t worry they are bound to last alot tbh. they are pretty quality. in addition, if you end up prefering the pleather pad you can use the plastic mounting thing (that is removable) and put it on other pads pretty easily.

I understand burn-in period is usually around 150 + hours,. It would be interesting to hear your thoughts on initial impressions after you bought them, how long it took to burn-in in your own experience and whether there were significant changes to the sound after burn-in

Personally, it was really hard to get used to them. But it def didnā€™t take 150, after hearing them for 1 day i got used to the sound sig and nothing really changed after. i know zaph had the same experience or even shorter but there are also others like soren who say it took a week right? @Soren_Peregrine
seems to vary i guess

I think I definitely adjusted to them after about a week, then after about 2 weeks I started to absolutely love them.

I couldnā€™t find these anywhere anymore. I think from memory I saw them on sale for $200 brand new a few years back but I didnā€™t have the money then and now I regret letting it slip by.

Only of recent have they been harder to find, they used to be on sale for the 200-250 new price point a few months ago

I quite often see them on Ebayā€¦ any where from $250 to $350, although there are some higher. Got mine a couple of weeks agoā€¦ There were more then as well.

Lol!!.. Dont just sit there Froggieā€¦Jump!!!

I got them for $250 I think after I joined this forum looking for advice to buy Argons lol. M0N shilling Carbons smh. Still donā€™t have Argons, but will probably get them as my next pairā€¦

I think $200-$350 is fair for Carbons, but past that I would probably not buy personally. Others may disagree, but thatā€™s about where I would put them on my list.

In regards to the burn in, they definitely open up a lot the more you use them. It is very slow and subtle, but thinking back to day 1 and comparing them to now, they just sound wider, more open, and they just breathe better I guess is the best way I can describe it. I liked them the day I took them out of the box, but I like them a lot more now than on day 1. Hope this helps!

I would agree with this, going past 350 is a bit too much

As I said previously I think, Mine were brand new sealed package. $240.00 on ebay. I am not sure I would have gone even as far as $350 but I am definitely glad I got theseā€¦

There are a lot of things I would do for a pair of Nighthawk Carbon if I didnā€™t have themā€¦ maybe paying too much money would be one of them. :smirk:

I remember trying them at the store for a brief moment (wasnā€™t interested at the time). From memory, I think they really confused me then, in a good way. Itā€™s like I couldnā€™t wrap my head around what I was hearing, they felt like sound from a ā€œdifferent dimensionā€ (that doesnā€™t make any sense at all). This is the only pair of headphones that I can actually relate what Zeos was talking about.

At the time it wasnā€™t something that I want, but now that Iā€™m building up a collection, that is exactly what I want.

I havenā€™t tried the Carbon though, how do they differ?
