good thing you are around now, how’s retirement 4 days in? ![]()
In the hp world? Fiio FT1 is recommended a lot afaik.
As for planars, i dunno if this is good.
But the MK3 lineup is a beast if you mod it.
fiio Ft1 is closed back?
I got the FT-1s and the low end doesn’t hit like the graph indicates… I’d say it graphs lower than what I can hear on my head bw 80-300Hz. (Amt of bass I can hear is def more)
I’ve lined up a few songs to make notes on it so I can hopefully give a more accurate idea of how it sounds on here.
Session is on tonight ![]()

Yeah it’s the closed back, it’s open back planar variant is the FT-1 pro
yeah it is.
It is probably still the best one at that price range though for hps…
Well said. The shitfucks are finally starting to run out of things to be offended by. And I’ll just say it; you cannot hate the media enough. I absolutely despise what they have become. I think that even their evil supporters are starting to turn their backs on them. It’s gonna take quite a while before common sense takes hold again, but I think we can get there.
I didn’t know Ted Season 2 was out, it’s gonna be fun.
I haven’t bothered with the series. If I can’t watch Ted be the foul-mouthed, vulgar thing that he is I am not interested! ![]()
it’s not really toned down tho, it’s rather age appropriate for the time the series is set around. So, its just a bit different but still hillarious.
Damn man! That is awesome! Really excited to hear your thoughts on it. Def want to get these or the sundaras that people talk about.
I hope this is a much better purchase!!! But just a heads up… some have said they are better with eq which may be good or bad… depending on how you feel about eq.
Appreciate what you do for the community brother. Only reviewer that gives the people what they want. This community def needs you!
Closed or semi open?
Just watched the video, long day at work with lectures … First of all thank you for introducing me to the Doobie brothers, very nice track and now gonna put their discography in the background while I work at home. Second I listened to what you said, tried on the 4 sets of IEMs that I have (EW300, Nuo, Wan’er 2 and PRX) and probably they all did better job than those Beyerdynamic headphones, for sure PRX and EW300 did. But out of curiosity I took my wifes JBL wireless something headphones which are on ear cost around 90 euros and they sounded like you described the Beyer with probably better vocals. My Edifier wireless are at work for when I need to take calls tomorrow gonna try it on them also. Since those sound better but maybe with lesser vocals they might be close to the Beyer lol. Beyer did some shitty job with these headphones. Always love the brutal thumbnails for the videos
Glad you went into headphones since here I can only demo Sennheiser and nothing else before buying and having insight from someone that inteprets headphones through music honestly gives me reassurance if I pull the triger on some headphones.
On another topic just got notification that Hidzis launched their kickstarter for MP145Pro at early bird 159$ for the set. Another new planar this year ![]()
The T50RPMK4? its semi open.
Mybad. Looked them up and on Amazon they had two version.
This is the closed version.
I listen quite a bit louder than your test volume, but something about the JT7s just felt like that stretchy diaphragm lost all the upsides of planar tightness and the extra excursion gains it has meant the magnets had to be further away and they just don’t slam very hard and detail seemed pretty low for a planar. Also, let me know how you feel about the XV clarity. They almost sounded compressed in the overall dynamics and it added to the perceived veil they had.
I’m about to find out ![]()
There is a gaping void in the bass arena in over ear evaluation /subjective opinion giving
People use bass as a sales gimmick without really listening to the music they apparently assume it will do well in
Hip hop is street poetry
The lyrics are as important as any genre that has story telling structure if not more
Both Punch Audio sets, among many many others can do it for $ that is not ridiculous
Headphones world
seems to have the same issue as 10 years ago
Assuming, then exaggeration
“Makes my head shake” or something ridiculous instead of just saying that a certain easy to find drop (YT) at timestamp (x) is substantial and clear more so than ( comparison set)
Not a lot of people in this hobby with YT channels appear to like bass or have any actual experience with it
There’s a headphone/over-ear that I’m really excited for but it’s definitely a boutique/pricey set.
But, if you enjoyed Eris, this set was the true bass violence especially pad rolling to Dekoni pads and the bass switch up.
Heard it at SoCal and immediately shuffled stuff away to pick one up. Think he’s getting close to finishing it up.
But, yeah, you’re right. Huge gap in the over ears for really good bass. MDR-Z1R? I liked the Auribus Acoustics Sierra that follows Harman over ear.
